How many times have you been stoped by the cops?

Do police/army checkpoints count? If so, well over 100, maybe 200 :p

My most recent stop was the first day I picked up the Z4. I was followed by three separate police cars in three different areas that day and was pulled over by the first one. They thought I had stolen the car.

Never been stopped, had 2 encounters though:

1) once was when I carefully rolled my civic into a field
2) second was when I was driving along and a kid ran into the side of my car and broke their leg...fortunately because my car was filthy (as usual) the was a big mark of dirt about 3/4 of the way down my car where they ran into the side to prove there was nothing I did wrong..phew! They were very friendly and courteous though as you would hope.

Only twice in about 3/4 years of driving.

First time I was taking my mates in to town and one was pretty drunk so thought it would be hilarious to lean out the window and shout hello at them. So they followed me before pulling me over as I went straight over a mini roundabout rather than round it. As my mate looked quite ill and I didn't want him being sick in my car lol.

Second time was New Years Eve just gone, was a standard check to see if I had been drinking or not due to the day and time that it was. :)

In the car 0 well a couple of times at a breath test site. where they where stopping everyone for a few days It happened to be on my way to work. The bright ornage dress sense convinced them I didn't need to be tested.

On the 50cc(85) and 125 loads. Somethimes they where ok. But othertimes they where *******

Most remembrable was on the motorway going to cribbs on the 125. It was pouring down with rain and I went past a police car doing 70, they where doing about 6-0 due to the weather. They pulled me over and started with We couldn't see you and checked my rear lights out which work, so when that failed they tried that nikes not legal for the motorway. I was like yes it is and had an argument with them. Then they said you don't have a license for it, it needs L-plates and your not allowed on the motorway. At which point I produce my license that shows I'm entitled to it and to ride on the motorway. They then said it wasn't within the BHP restriction. By which time I had enough and said your wasting my time and I want your badge numbers. So they gave me a producer and said are names are on that and sent me on my way.. Idiots.

Not that much in 20 years of biking... i usually end up talking myself into trouble at roadside :(

twice for wheeling, and given usual sarky lecture at roadside 'so how many wheels has your bike got', 'err two officer', 'and how many were you riding on', 'err one officer' lol

overtook unmarked police car at 90 racing a R6, we both got pulled

got pulled on R1 by some copper who was on way to work, the unmarked (his home car) kept coming up behind me flashing lights on main road through devon.. I thought it was road rage and kept speeding up to get away from the fool. In the end I did a couple of miles at about 150 only to then have him next to me signaling for me to pull over. He then gave me some half arsed lecture about 'you were doing over 110', if only he knew :D ...still he couldn't do nothing as he had no equip in car.

got cut up by car on entry to dual carriage way and i was so near death and mad I wound on bike to silly speeds, only to then have the fool who cut me up come up behind and turn on flashing blue lights... they pulled beside me and passenger held cap to window and mouthed 'sloooww down' phewwww, guess he felt guilty at nearly killing me

got followed into work and issued ticked for crossing pavement on hayabusa, I got cocky when they lectured me in car park explaining 'I bet you wish you caught me at 200 down local dual carriage way other night', didn't do down to well...

pulled a couple of times for noisy pipes, and also once for 'indicators to close together', the fool got out his tape measure and said they were 10cm to close together. got fined £400!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Twice, once for booting it down a dual carriageway at half 11 at night up to 85 or so, he wasnt too impressed he couldnt catch me until i had slowed down to 30 for a residential area.

Then same thing again, gave it a little bit of welly up to the limit rather sharpish, stuck to the limit and he pulled me over to say i had a brake light out.

twice

first time pulled into a coned off area for a tyre check \0/

second time pulled off into a laybay for a tyre check in a brand bew car :)

I'm obviously not bad enough :(

Twice.

The first was at 3am on the way home from a party. I was designated driver and due to the one way system I need to drive down to get to our house it looked like I was trying to avoid them. They stopped me about 50m from my front door. On getting out of the car I tripped on a bottle that was lying in the road, cue the breathaliser...

The second time was at 5am on Jan 1 2000 on the way in to work to make sure the world hadn't ended.

With me driving, probably only 3 or 4 times, only once due to me being a plank, and giving it some berries up Royal Parade in Plymouth, but the Police officer took pity on me probably due to the POS XR3i I was driving...
The other times it was just routine roadside checks..
The only other incident was a bit shameful for the Police, it involved an adrenaline fuelled police officer trying to drag me out of my car (it had been stolen then recovered a week previous), hitting me repeatedly with his forearm in my face, at that point I was 100% cooperative.. After a bit of retaliation, and a bit of a standoff it all sorted itself out..

15-20 times in the first few years of driving. I once got questioned for stopping outside my house at 1am and had to prove to the officer that I lived there.

In the last 8 years probably only 2-3 times.

Probably 10+ times in 5 years, twice outside my own house and the cop wouldnt come across the street to my house to see my licence and made me produce it down the station. God knows why ive been stopped so many times, my cars a bog standard 106GTi, although theres been a big campaign against 'boy racers' in my area for years so most of my friends have been pulled quite a few times too. Virtually everytime have been routine stops, bar twice when ive been VERY lucky while being slightly naughty.

Been driving for about 21 months now, and I have yet to be pulled over.

Me and a friend were questioned by some officers right outside my own house once, which was a bit wierd. We were in his car though, and he had literally just picked me up and they were down the same road anyway, so not really pulled over as such.

7, with the final one they condemned my car on the side of the road, a good 4 hour walk from home. Apparently it had rust less than 30cm from a load bearing structure. Really? it's a 16 year old Nova, you plank. (turns out though, after i had my car re-MOT'd, such is the law, that it wasn't a rust hole at all, and was just where some previous welding had crossed over and left a gap. The guy who MOT'd the car 2 months before launched an official complaint against the policeman in question as he had jeopordised his workmanship, and the copper was suspended. oh dear)

Also, if you're fronting your insurance on your Nova when you're 18, when the policeman asks you if you own the car, don't say no. But if you do, when he asks who's car it is, under no circumstances say "i don't know mate, i didn't stop to ask his name" because i can gaurantee that your mate in the car will find it far, far funnier than the copper you're talking to.
