How many times have you been stoped by the cops?

About 6 times in the 2-3 years i've had the Honda. I'd say that in about half the occasions were because I did something questionable (not necessarily wrong, but enough to get their attention).

I've been followed a few times for no apparent reason, only for them to break off eventually.

Had a few random checks too.

I personally have never had any problems with the police in these instances, they've always been polite when they greet me and I respond accordingly. I find that as long as you are co-operative and aren't a complete tool, they are generally fine.

After all, if you haven't done anything wrong, and are taxed, insured and MOT'd and your car isn't falling to bits, why give them any grief.

I personally love the attention ;)

4 times in total, once for driving over the speed limit in my Ka. I got told to make sure there wasn't a police car behind me next time i put my foot down. lol

Other 3 times were within 2 weeks of buying an XR3i, 1st couple times was because i had more than 2 ppl in the car and they assumed it was stolen, 3rd was because one of my mates was wearing a hoody and decided to put his hood up for a laugh as we drove past a police car..they turned around and pulled me over almost instantly!

Only once really after I, er, drifted neatly through a junction, in which a police car was sitting at the other end waiting.

To be fair, it was only because they hadn't gritted and was slick as owl feces...

Hehehe........Talk about asking for trouble :D

Been stopped a few times for the usual spot checks but nothing major :)

never, surprising really. My closest call has to have been on my way back from the Donington track day where I was hooning round a roundabout on the A5, came off my exit with considerable speed and as I rounded the corner it revealed a police volvo in the layby immediatly after the exit. Turns out that section was a 40 .

Twice for me.

Once when I was in my first Clio about 3.5 years ago. I was apparently going around a roundabout too fast.

The other is last year, shortly after buying the MR2. They thought the window tints were too dark; the tints were fine.

Stopped/Pulled over: 0.
Spoken to them: 2.

Beeped my horn at someone a little more than was right and there was a police car coming down the road...he stopped and put his window down, as did I...and he told me off. :D
Had an accident and chatted to the nice policeman. :)

Never been pulled over.

Only once in 4 years of biker ownership which amazes me to be honest :D

I was going a tad fast with my mate on the back because he was thinking of buying a bike of his own and wanted to experience the acceleration. Managed to get away with a "Just take it a bit easier in future mate" though.

Lots when I was younger. None (*touches wood*) now I am an old git driving a sensible diesel hatchback.

I got stopped twice coming back from the pub when I was 19 (a few miles out of town) - when I drove I only drank coffee and I was only at the pub because I was dating a watress there...

Once for me, was coming back at around midnight from a work reunion meal, got to a dodgy part of Greenford and saw the blue lights, officer came over to me, asked me where I was going then said wait whilst he went to his car, they then drove off leaving me there. Thought WTF so I drove behind them for some 2+ miles before they turned on the blue lights again and sped off onto the A40 towards Wembley.

1) Misses left L plates on and i was doing ~80 up a dual carriage way

2) 3am through stoke-on-trent (going to Blackpool via A52) looking for an open petrol station and as i wasn't concertrating and going a little slow they thought i could be a DD

3) Booting it around Ikea roundabout doing 60/70 and they thought I had seen them and trying to evade

4) Going over horsenden (sp?) hill in perivale at a fair rate of nots

5) launching over a (single lane traffic lights) hump back bridge near tring with a police car waiting at the lights the other sie

3 Times..

Once when I was 17.. I had my fogs on in low light (Yeh - like I say I was 17) he said if i catch you again i'll fine you :D

Second and third were both 4am on a Saturday morning, just random stop checks as I was the only car on the road.. i was breathelised on one of them too..

3 times in total all in the paseo.

two of them were in the same night. the first time was because they thought i was swearving in the road. I wasnt i was moving into the right hand filter lane realised it was the wrong one and move back pretty sharpish, breath tested and a producer and i was on my way.

Go back taking a mate home i got lost i used a cemetry entrance to turn around as i was doing so another police car turned up asked me what i was doing here told him i was turning around i was on my way again.

Third time coming home from the girlfriends house at 2 am speeding got pulled over for it blagged my way out of it luckily.

I have not yet been pulled over in the 200 though.

I went three years without getting stopped, but in the last 6 months I've been pulled five times.

Because:
  1. Tail light out
  2. No reason given
  3. No reason given
  4. Speeding (I admit I was speeding and they let me off after I begged for forgiveness:D)
  5. No Reason given
I don't mind being pulled. Most of the time the police are courteous and it's not a bad experience, but have I suddenly got a sign above my head or something to look suspicious?
