Just wondered if you know where i can get prescription sunglasses from. like nice ones.
I have some from my optition that are ok choose the fraim and got reaction lenses in.
But would like some that are more sunglasses than normal glasses with a different lense in.
I play golf so it would mainly be for this. I like something like
http://oakley.com/pd/5195/17350 or that kind of style.
Any ideas?

i recently got them for my holiday, the day before...
they ask you to put them in and take them out in the opticians, before they'd let you take them away
as i needed them for diving etc, i didn't leave till i had done it.. took me 2 and a half hours!

now down to about 3 minutes to put them in, and 10 seconds to get them out.
they taught me how to take them out, but a rubbish method - the "grabbing" of the lens, a finger on the left of the lens and thumb on the right.

took me AGES to get it out this way - i then tried the vertical method (top and bottom) and took me a few seconds.

definately worth persevering!

Specsavers is your best bet :)

2-4-1 also ;)

If you do not like their sunlgasses range, you can take a pair of your own in and they will fit the lenses in those.

Right i looked into pescption Oakleys but for the style i wanted i was looking around £600, it really was not worth it. To have the Oakley Flaks put into pescrption they are £265- £380 according to pescption and lens finish (taken from i-style site). Personally i went for contact lenses and then bought the Oakleys i wanted saving 300 quid :)

that the thing it took me a hour and half in the optitions doing the in and out bit.
When i got home put them in couldnt get them out, but i think i was panacing cos i knew the shop shut and was racing against time for if i couldnt get them out.
Would be so much better for me as playing in the rain is a right nightmare with rain drops in my lenses.

why were you racing for time?
if the shop was shut, evening?
they can be left in all night without any risk!

Ive only been using contact now for about 2 months, first month i really stuggled with them getting them in and out and took me ages in the morning before work. But now after practise your eyes get use to it and you get quick at doing them, i can do them now with out a mirror even. I personally would stick with it, it works out a lot cheaper especally if you want Oakleys :)

By the way what is your pescription, Most manufactors only go from +2 - -5 just incase your eye sight is that bad.

its not to bad think its around 1.25 or something but i may be totally wrong. but i dont think its out of that range

So if i go down the contacts route again how long should i keep trying to take them out?
would make things simpler

you'll just get it, no one can say how long it'll take specifically but it'll come to you to the point where you can do it while absolutely hammered with no mirror and causing no irritation. it's more getting used to the pinch motion but seriously they're the way to go with sunglasses.

it really is just practice

there are 3 or 4 techniques to get them out
3 didn't work for me
1, which i think i made up myself as the optician hadn't seen it, worked first time every time

1st time for me - an hour
2nd time - 40 mins
3rd time - 30 mins
4th time - 10 mins
5th time onwards - less than a minute

the horizontal pinch one is rubbish, never been able to do it once

the verticle pinch one is much easier to hold your eyelids open, and MUCH easier to pinch it out

instead of using 1 index finger and 1 thumb, i use two hands with both index fingers

that way, you have all your other lovely digits to control those wild eye lids

and it's not really a pinch as it's two hands... more a "push top and bottom together to pop that little monkey out" method, © Trescodrucey 2008
