Hi,

So looking to get a motherboard for sli x2 8800 gtx and also my x-fi gamer sound card.
Want to overclock also and have a couple of tb's of hdd.

Was going to go for the MSI P7N Diamond nForce 780i SLi

But read this in one of the reviews here on overclockers?

The sound card that it comes with (x-fi xtreme audio) isn't actually a true x-fi, so was going to stick my fat1lty from my old PC in, however having 2 double slot size 8800GTS' in the slots covers over the only PCI slot (all the rest are PCIe). It's not a huge issue, 'cos the sound from the xtreme is good, just it could be better.

and I have a good surround sound system so dont wanna waste this.
Thanks

I have a Striker II Formula, 2 BFG 8800 GTX OC2, X-Fi Fatala1y Champ.

Running much more toasty now I have installed the second GPU. :(
But there is room for my X-Fi card as well! :)

However, DON'T GET THE STRIKER II FORMULA as it's a pile of rubbish! Still waiting for a better BIOS revision. Have been getting BSOD, freezing, random artifacts, onboard NIC not working......not good. However with the latest release (1101), things are starting to look better, just getting the artifacts now.

My best bet would be to choose a board which support tri-sli as this will have tonnes of room. Probably a 790i of some description....

MSI P7N Diamond

Even comes with an X-Fi card.

EDIT - Note to self, read opening post, not just the thread title, before posting...
