Whats going on with Virgin, they are going downhill fast.

First we here about Phorm advertising coming in then today Ive heard from other forums that the STM are being changed and trialled in a few areas, and we all know that this will mean they will come in nationwide.

The hours for the STM trial being 11am - 9pm (currently 4pm - 9pm).

How the network can be saturated at 11am in the morning i dont know. I understand the 4pm - 9pm STM when the network is getting used the most after people are coming home from school, work etc but 11am in the morning!!.

The trial is being conducted in the wigan area at the moment, no offical news on this, or any cap details, but it has been confirmed that the trial is underway.

what on earth are they playing at, they really don't have a clue do they.
11am-9pm so what all day then. Makes having it pointless.

Blooming idiots running it to be honest. It's like they want to go down the pan.

*awaits the doogooder saying its for the best yada*

Ever since the name became Virgin we are the ones who are getting No Swearing!
oh the Irony. Wonder what they will do when 50MB comes out? im taking a guess at the cap becoming lower, say 1.5GB then your over the limit and probably be STMed for 10 hours and not 5, everything they do is just the opposite, after many years of being with them, the time to leaving them draws closer with each week.

just means i leave my newsies till 11pm to download then ;) no biggy just started grabit running with 60 gig to download :) rather than d/loading small amounts through out the day

a virgin media person came to my door at tea time yesterday and asked if everything with the service is ok, told them some evenings it gets very slow and recently it has been un-usuable for several hours on a couple of occassions this month. and they seemed to take a note of what i said...

tbh most months the connection runs fine, but with these new STM times i think something will need to be done.. i dont think it's just virgin media having problems either, take the recent news of several isp's asking for support from the bbc due to their bbci service putting 'heavy load' on the isp's 'networks'.

But we all know it does not matter how much external video content sites pay Virgin they will still screw the customer over regardelss, the network has been oversubscribed, which has nothing to do with video content let's just blame video content sites. They neglected to spend cash on Network upgrades whilst at the same time adding more and more customers, and continuing to impose limits and other crap to balance out oversubscription, now that this is becoming a problem they will tighten the screws even more.

Virgin didnt take over. NTL - Telwest payed around £960 million for virgin mobile. Part of the agreement of the purchase is that NTL-Telewest would take on the virgin name.

So although things started to be run differently since it become virgin media, its still the same people running the show as always, except this time they have been running with virgin mobile as well, virgin are not in control of the whole cable thing.

Subscriber Traffic Management, download/upload too much during the times listed and your connection gets set to very low speed for a period of time.

Also, to the people complaining about this new STM hours, do you even know if they limit needed to be reached b4 the penalty kicks in has been increased? for all you know this could work out better.

Holy heck, they just go from bad to worse! It was bad enough before, but now? LOL I'm on 24 meg LLU ADSL2+ and can download what I want, WHEN I want, no problems. I pull between 250 and 500 GB a month with no throttling whatsoever, and no caps. My download speed is a solid 2.2 to 2.5 MB/sec 24/7/365...

But now, VM customers are paying nearly £50 for "20 meg" but they can't see that speed unless (1) they're up very early or (2) they stay up all night. LMAO Classic.

I think you will find its £37 for 20 meg the £50 is meant to be the 50 meg price, but i only pay £22 as got mine in a deal, with my brother using the connection for work too we reguraly hit over 1tb a month so it aint all bad, speeds here are fantastic 2.3mbs no problems and the lowest it dips is 1.6 when its in this stupid stm hours.

I aint happy about the new trial hours though, is there a way you can get out of your contract with with them changing things like this ? i know looking on samknows it says O2/Be should be available on 30th April and i know the peeps here used to get around 1200kbs on Tiscali LLU.

OK I hold my hands up to that one; £37 a month. But that's still a hell of a lot more expensive than I'm paying for full speeds and no caps 24/7. I think you got what I was trying to say ;) STM restricts you to 5 Mbps doesn't it, for 5 hours from onset? :(

iam pretty sure i was on this STM when i was with virgin months ago
internet would die soon as it hit 12pm all the way to 12am.

The funny thing is, i was only surfing i didn't even download anything
had to get rid of them as i need my browsing thru the day.

Where did you read this Scooby.

Yes I would like to see some proof tbh.

I have read of new STM hours being trialled which has led to the accidental activation of STM outside of its boundaries.

boils me pee this does,

makes me want to get back at em

maybe when we all go to bed at night we should set 100 gigs of downloads running just to burn up bandwidth in protest :) 12 hours of solid newsgroup downloads *** :)
