Far far away....
Two people have been sentenced after claiming thousands of pounds in benefits for 16 non-existent children.

Danny Wilshaw, 58, claimed more than £75,000 over four years and must serve half of a 20-month jail sentence. Nancy Stevenson, 59, of Weston-super-Mare, was accused of claiming up to £11,000 in child tax credits over four years.

The pair, both from Weston-super-Mare, exploited a loophole after realising they did not have to send children's birth certificates to tax officials to prove they existed.

Why was it so easy to get away with !!!

Looking at them you'd never have thought they were the type, innocence is in the eyes.

After his arrest, Wilshaw, a gambling addict with 85 previous convictions for fraud, claimed he had done a public service by exposing the loophole.

Hopefully he'll learn his lesson after his 191st conviction & 10 month stint that crime really doesn't pay in this country.

Well to be fair, there's not really much to do in Weston-super-Mare apart from bet on the horses and drink :D

I'm surprised they didn't get rumbled sooner tho!

10 months in prison and a tag for his wife?

I'd rather they'd be made to pay the money back.

Well sure, but, and I might be missing something obvious here, surely you could point out the same loophole by, err, simply pointing it out to the appropriate authorities rather than scamming £75k.

They should be banned from ever claiming any kind of benefit ever again.

If you aren't going to play the system fairly, you shouldn't be allowed to play the system AT ALL.

10 months in jail for 86k.

Hm. Not a bad years work if you ask me. In that month he'll get food and board free, learn a trade and probably gain a bit of interest on the thousands in the bank. Why the %^&$ do i goto work each day, i'm an idiot in the purist form.

thats over 4 years which is about 21k per year between them which i assume they would have spent.

i doubt they would have a huge amount sitting in a bank gathering interest. but i could be wrong.

16 kids over 4 years youd have thought theyd have been found out a little sooner!

Also Id have thought theyd have to pay some of the money back, right?
Or do they really get away with keeping it??

It would be against their human rights/racist/discriminating/lack of evidence to get them to pay it back. It's the UK way! yyyyaaayyy1 :(
