McCanns going too far?

They were utterly shafted and vilified by the media, luckily they were intelligent enough to respond in the correct way and get front page apologies. I don't see how they could have been charged with anything though, chav family or not.

Read dmpoole's posts. They about sum it up, it's all about perception, not the acts it seems.

I actually agree with the 'neglect' even though the law won't recognise it as such, I agree with the 'dipping' even though the money was to help them financially. I think they have been really stupid like 1000s of other parents are probably doing right now while abroad.

I'm just playing Devils Advocate.

Well yesterday they were campaigning in the EU parliamnet for a warning system, today the news has broken that some transcripts from the interview have been leaked.

The full story is covered here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7341793.stm

What puzzles me is the following:

The couple called for the Portuguese Justice Ministry to launch an internal inquiry into the leak which breaches the country's strict judicial laws.

Mr Mitchell described Madeleine's words as a "short aside".
He said: "Madeleine came out and said, 'Why didn't you come to me and Sean [Madeleine's younger brother] when we were crying last night?'
"Now, Kate and Gerry were puzzled by that because they'd been checking her every half an hour and they had seen no evidence and heard no evidence that she was crying.
"Nor was she disturbed when she was checked each time. "Equally, one of the friends, Rachael Oldfield, was in the apartment next door in a bedroom adjacent to the wall where Madeleine was in her bedroom and she heard no crying at all all night."

Who is suppose to have said this:

"Madeleine came out and said, 'Why didn't you come to me and Sean [Madeleine's younger brother] when we were crying last night?"

It can't have been the child in an interview as she is still missing.

what kind of warning system?

Somthing to tell parents when thier child is being abducted during the the main course?

edit oh, found it on the beeb

They are visiting Brussels as part of the campaign to create a dedicated alert system for abducted children - which they say should be restricted to the most serious cases.

Exactly how do you decide which cases are "serious" ?

The news down here said it was what Mrs McCann told the Police in an interveiw and said Madeline said it to her a night or 2 before she disappeared

Depends on your postcode and gross income.

That confused me too. Maybe they meant the other twin?

We know from earlier reports that the last person to check on Madeleine was not her parents, but a family friend.

Edit: thanks for the clarification, Zip. :)

So yeah, plenty of evidence, from the horses mouth, that they have been dipping into the fund...
I think the justification they used was that they had had to put their jobs on hold whilst looking for Maddy, and as such had no wage with which to pay the mortgage.

Understandable, even if you don't agree with it.

Are their other children being looked after properly while they continue their crusade, lets be honest they don't have a great track record.

Is there anyone who genuinely believes the Madeleine is still alive? The abducters must be laughing their heads off at all this coverage. It's highly unlikely anyone will ever catch them and I can't believe she didn't die months ago.

The McCanns spokeman has just confirmed it was Kate McCann who said in an interview that the daughter said, quote:

Madeleine came out and said, 'Why didn't you come to me and Sean [Madeleine's younger brother] when we were crying last night"

The spokesman also just try to spin this, he has said that the parents are puzzled as to why Madeleine said this as she wasn't crying, he then in the next breath said that she may have been crying and that this could be evidence of someone disturbing her and or trying to take he the night before!

Actually the abductor might be incredibly annoyed, after thinking it would be a simple snatch, with not much the police could do to this much attention, so he/she probably had to kill her well before they may have wanted to.

That or shes like that German(?) girl who was abducted and held in a basement for 13 years.

Austrian I think. This one?
