BMW 330Cd Remap/Chipping

Quick one...

Guy at work recently bought a BMW 330Cd on an 04 plate. It's a smart looking car, I'm not going to deny that.

However, he was told by the previous owner that it's been remapped AND chipped and is producing 290bhp and 400-something lb/ft of torque.

I was having a quick look around a few remap websites and it seems the 184bhp engine can be taken to ~240 and the 204bhp engine upto ~260. Is this correct?

Also, how do you tell what engine the car has?

Depends what kind of person you are. I might have forgotten what a friend of mine did on his 18th birthday, but I can certainly remember his PIN number...
 
i used to know all the different power outputs of all the whole bmw range a few years back.
since i moved to uni i stopped reading car magazines on a regular basis and have since forgotten..
that was e46/e39/e38 era tho

sometimes i see a new car on the road an i don't even know what it is :eek:
although it's usually korean ;)

it's just something you know :p

Hi Nick, that's impressive if it's true! What would the torque figure be if it was remapped to that level?

Not 100% on the drivetrain. Will find out.

I'm still a bit dubious, one week it was 280bhp, next it's 290bhp. I've been challenged to a 'race' so we'll see how quickly it leaves me (not my doing btw) ;)

Not sure, mine is 350lbft Wouldn't be surprised if that's pushing 400lbft at least.

The 204bhp engines will happily hit 250bhp and further. It's just down to how much extra strain the transmission can take - autos are usually better at soaking it up than manuals.
