I was just embarrest.... by a Saxo :(

250 bhp at the fly going through 215 linglongs? thats not good!, you want at least 225 on the rear with a good proven compound. You have the wrong profile totally on plastic tyres, it really is asking for trouble, i wouldnt even go out in the car nevermind racing at the lights and a 90bhp saxo has just proved you this...

I'm going for 235 or maybe 245. Like I said they have been fine, really. I knew the tyres were pap from the day I bought it but they performed better than I expected so I decided to keep them for a while. I have driven in all conditions and have been nowhere near to experiencing a brown trouser situation. Its certainly more than drivable with them on.

jamoor - Try 90-100 quid a corner, not that money is much of a problem.

I wouldn't buy an MR2 Turbo from someone that had put those tyres on it. What else have they scrimped on?

I had a Suzuki Swift Sport that wouldn't vanish as fast as I'd like to see in my mirrors down the Cat n Fiddle. I drive a Prelude Motegi 2.2.

Kate's Silvia has (had) Marshall Powermax tyres, fine in the dry and okay in the wet as long as you engage your brain before pressing the loud pedal. Stomp the throttle in first or second and you'd be facing the wrong way before you knew what had happened though.

Not me but my friend lost to me in the TT off the lights in his 430, not because my car was faster but because he could not put his foot down properly on the crap Czech roads without risking damaging his car (due to lack of ground clearance and tram tacks + pot holes)

stick some goodyear F1's on there, with 245/40 F1's on the back of mine i get plenty of grip in the wet.

i guy at work is having his vts turbo's engine rebuilt at the moment, that should be putting out about 300bhp when its back. it will be quick if it can get traction ;)

If you use unbranded cheapo tyres.. you WILL crash and you WILL die... and you will goto hell because it is classed as suicide...!

300 bhp from a turbo'd 1.6 !?

got lag.com?

VTR's are slow tbh, my modded vts or a Cleo Sport would chew-up a VTR good style.

It could have been skill that beat you at the lights, as in you give it too much throttle.
MR2's dont have all potential weight over the drive wheels either.

My mates VTR has a C2 GT head and has had some port & Polish work etc and it's running about 160bhp I think. It's blooming quick, that's for sure.
