The Best Army ... ?

You know why we stayed out of Vietnam?
Hmmmm. UK citizens that moved to US served. As did Aus and NZ troops..

Harold Wilson was adamant not to send troops, but if memory serves, Special forces were there before the Yanks were there at all. And then later some were sent on on detachment with US Special force units and I believe some RM went on detachment with Aus troops.

By any chance do you have severe bone damage in your upper arm?

You do still have to deal with the problem that squaddies generally do not have a good reputation, and often start fights etc.

Probably less fights than most drunken louts seem to start on a typical Friday or Saturday night out in town. And you also have the drunks who one hearing that X person is in the army, they will try and start a fight with them to 'prove a point' about them being harder than a soldier, I've experienced this myself.

I think they're just really cheesy ads. I'm all for the army but wow, the adverts scream scripted propaganda.

Have you not seen any US TV recruitment adverts? They're pretty weird. Go hunt on youtube.

In the US, I have seen The Marines sponsoring basketball tele casts and stuff.

Its just like, what the hell?

They have there own jingle and what not.

i know...

You confuse me in this thread:confused:

BTW our troops can get discounts at certain stores and they also get a lot of other stuff like cheaper holidays if they want to go to a certain place and stuff.:D
Plus some of there pay is tax free:cool:

Along with free dental and stuff like that:D

if you're a reservist in Australia perhaps.

Yes, I was referring specifically to the Australian reservists (as referenced by Zip, himself a fellow Aussie), hence the link in my post.

in the UK they have a tax free 'bounty' but the actual pay for attendance throughout the year is not tax free

That's just pure ****. :(
