Thinking of Buying iPhone

As title but I really want this on Orange network. I see a lot of posts about people having iPhone on Orange but the way I see it you have to buy it from o2 then unlock or something? Im confused

What would be the best way of getting iPhone on Orange?

Yeah, you buy the iPhone first, from either O2, Carphone Warehouse (I think) or the Apple Store.. And possibly from some other places too. Usually what happens is you buy the phone, take it home, plug it in and then iTunes sets the contract up with you. However... If you get it you could also unlock it and put any SIM in it you want.

I have just got one . . .

its excellent - the interface is amazing as is the massive screen.

I have just got the MMS application working too - once the correct settings were entered - its easy.

A very worthwhile phone IMHO - simple yet sophisticated!!

At first I thought you mean "Oh, if khushy says an iPhone is good then it must be ****".

He was talking about the iPhone not the N95. I have both an N95 and an iPhone and I've not used the N95 at all apart from to test work related things with. I'd never go back to a legacy phone full time after having the iPhone.

It's easy to hack and just don't let iTunes update the firmware (when a new one comes out) until you've seen on the forums here it is safe to do so. None of the previous firmware upgrades have bricked hacked iPhones as far as I know, I've updated to each one since 1.1.2 and then hacked it again after I upgraded.

Seriously though, they are fantastic. Almost anything people will list as a shortcoming can be fixed with third party apps.
In June there will be real third party tools, apps and games available so it has potential.

as some of you may know i was looking at the lg viewty, just because it is smaller than the iphone and has a lot better features that i would use, e.g a better camera 5mp over 2mp and an iphone cant even use mms!! its not even 3g?

Can you get apps to make the iphone mms? What are all the other features it doesnt have?

Hi mate,

My girlfriend has a viewty and i can honestly say that unless you want a better camera dont get it, its a decent phone in its own right but nothing compared to my iphone

3rd party apps fix most shortcomings apart from harware limitations

Also i was just reading a review that says both phones need to connect to a wireless internet network before they can go online, woah so if i dont have wireless i cannot use the net?

Thats rubbish, you can use GPRS or EDGE so getting on the net is no problem at all.

They are pretty good devices, I prefer my TYTN 2 because of the functionality it gives me, I had an iphone for a few weeks, jailbroken, but went back to windows mobile.

If you could get WM functionality, GPS, 3G and the rest I would get another, until then I'll stick with windows mobile.

And I think the touchflo app on windows mobile is jus as good as the iphone one when tweaked right, the iphone one just looks smoother/slicker.

Is there a something that allows you to send and receive files over bluetooth as that is the only thing thats stopping me buying one.

They're crap;

- Cannot text while walking
- Cannot text one-handed
- Cannot send picture messages
- Cannot use any IM client
- Cannot do anything with bluetooth
- Cannot use it as a USB modem
- Camera is rubbish
- No 3G or HSPDA
- Safari is buggy, and JavaScript implementation lacking
- You have to "hack" it to install software (on your own computer?)

God bless my Treo 750

It might be approaching two years old, but it offers far, far more OTB functionality than the iPhone, without getting onto the millions of applications I could install on it.

Ive owned a windows mobile phone and now I have a Symbian phone both of which are as buggy as anything Ive seen.

I dont really care about the 3g side of things and they could get rid of the camera completely for all I care, I just need to able to send files over bluetooth. If it had that I'd have one.
