THIS IS NOT SPAM OR ANY KIND OF FISHY BUSINESS!

Im a university student studying Creative Product Design, trying to do some research. Im a regular user of these boards as well so i wouldnt do anything to jeopardise my future involvement in these forums.

I thought it would be OK to ask fellow forum members ;)

Ok guys and gals, im seeking help, from baby boomers specifically. I apologise in advance for labelling people aged between 44-62 as baby boomers.

If you are aged between 44-62 and willing to answer a few simple questions then that would be great :)

Im doing a project in university and trying to understand the lifestyles and attitudes of baby boomers. I need to build a profile of a typical baby boomer, or build several profiles of different groups of baby boomers.

Things I would like to know:

Name 3 brands, each in different categories that you would shop for? (e.g. Boots, BA, Audi)

WHY that particular brand over competing brands? (in terms of benefits, value and price)

Name 2 products and 2 services you find that are targeted to baby boomers specifically? (e.g. OXY spotcream for teenagers)

What 3 things in life do you find most appealing? (this can cover anything)

If you could help me with these simple questions then i would be very greatful. The answers dont need to be paragraphs, single sentences would suffice.

This can also be totally anonymous by use of PMs or email -> [email protected]

One last thing, this being a computer related forum id be expecting a lot of computer related answers and this is fine, BUT could you also think of other brands, products and services in your life.

sorry guys, i guess i shouldve explained a little better.

here is a short explanation:

A baby boomer is someone who was born during a period of increased birth rates, or baby boom, and the term is particularly applied to those born during the post-World War II period of increased birth rates. (1946-1964)

If you can help then please please answer.

Put it this way: if you don't know what the word "baby boomer" is, you're obviously not one of them. In fact, you're probably not even a Gen X-er.

Gen Y most likely...

Hard to believe that people haven't heard this term before.

hey guys, i see a lot of talking but no answers to my questions.

i dont mean to sound rude in anyway, and i know it hasnt been long since i posted, but id love to receive some results.

imo it would be better if they email you their answers as this will give better results as people may look at what someone else has posted and just use that as an answer. Also it would give some confidentiality.

To be honest i had never heard of the baby boom but was able to figure out that it would have been sometime when there was a boom of births. Surly people have heard of this in animals? Lemmings are one of the best known examples.

im 29 in just over a months time!! what does that make me lol???

Gen X, like me.

You're a Gen X-er if you were born between 1965 & 1982. In the US, this generation was commonly known as the "baby bust", since it was characterised by far fewer births than the "baby boom" which preceded it.

a lot of you will have parents who were part of the baby boom.

if youre feeling really really helpful maybe you could ask them and then relay the info back to me, or if youre confident you know what theyd say then id be equally interested. although, i dont want made up answers or answers that are inaccurate as that would be misleading for my project.

Why are you surprised that there arent many 'baby boom' members on a computer forum? I'd be surprised if more than a handful of that age group used these forums tbh :p

So what's GenY then?

So what's GenY then?

It comes after Generation X i.e. 1983 onwards but I'm not sure when it stops.

kingkongo one of your examples seem curious to say the least "Name 2 products and 2 services you find that are targeted to baby boomers specifically? (e.g. OXY spotcream for teenagers)"? If they are teenagers they aren't baby boomers, if they are baby boomers then they probably have no need for spot cream.

//edit there was no generation A, the phrase generation X was coined by Jane Deverson and it is the first one, originally used in contempt.

Oh shizzle just saw a 4x post.... *shakes fist at laggy pc and internet* Sorry, was NOT intending to spam.
