to buy an album. (Won't say what album as i'll leave myself open to ridicule :p)

Now i've seen the album on the website in the chart (mid table) saying new release.

Found it's spot on the shelf and it wasn't there! It was under chart but says Coming Soon!

How can an album be in the chart but it's not released yet?

Aren't sales supposed to warrant what position it is in the chart?

Wasn't best pleased as it looks like a really good album too!

Depends, usually only the BBC charts go off sales, independant charts go off record plays.

So if some radio/tv station has been playing tracks from the album in their own "catchment area" then they count it and form a chart.

Singles are positioned from both airplay and sales but that doesn't apply to albums. Radio stations don't tend to play complete albums anyway :)

I didnt say they played entire albums, a song from certain albums get counted as an album track play.

Also some charts dont count sales.
