Today I picked up my shiny E36 325i :D

Doesn't have climate but has the 18-button OBC and is in pretty good nick!

Bargaintastic motoring at its best (until something breaks I suppose!) :)

I was going to do a ghetto Lopez-style audio install, but it already has some TOXIC 6x9s fitted so I don't feel like I need to do anything there :p The Sony USB HU looks slightly out of place but I can live with it.

Pics will follow when Paradigm gets back from the boozer.

You have my deepest sympathies.

Don't be a **** its an awesome peice of bangernomics!

Seems to be the OcUK thang right now, buying an E36....

Come September, we'll see if I end up on that bandwagon ;)

tempted to get an e36 323i or similar
are they worth buying as a long-term car, or are they too risky?
as i presume it's not cheap if they go bang.. :p

Actually, they aren't that bad if they go seriously "bang", well the manuals aren't. A broken autobox could cost you a fair chunk!

A replacement 323/325/328 can be had for around £300-400, and its a doddle to swap them over.

I'd avoid the 323 though.

I'd avoid the 323 though.

any particular reason? i'll probably import a car from germany, to tax and insure in belgium, registration tax depends on power output

annual road tax is based on CV (fiscal power) though, so 323/325 wouldn't make any difference in that respect

The 325 and 328 are more likely to suffer problems than the 325, the 325 lump in the e36 was pre-vanos, so no issues there, and had no nikasil problems either. I'd only put up with the potential problems of the single-vanos M52 lump if I had the power of the 328.

Either way, if you get a 323 or 328, you want an intake manifold off the 325i anyway, as they release a further 20~ horsies.
