WTF? How are you getting the £75 deal for half the cost?
I am paying £85 a month for XL everything and a second normal box (which we don't even use)
i was told the deal should be about £54? Only 2Mb broadband and the limited phone package...
You'd really hate my brother then, he gets 2mb bband, unlimited anytime calls, and XL TV with a second box for £35 - lucky git.
Im happy with my V+ box especially as i haggled it for free. Only downside is that it makes a loud hum which gets on my T*Ts.
According to the guys who installed it virgin are releasing more HD channels on the 26th of this month. Not worried if they dont as recording 2 channels whilst watching another has proved to be quite good at times.

Sky HD stuff is low bit rate actually, yes the footy is great, but a lot of it is crap/nothing special.
Mind i got a great deal from Virgin when i threatened to leave, the '+' features are good, same as SKY in this regard, but on the Virgin box does have better outputs compared to the sky plus box, and it seems to upscale the standard channels too.
I think HD will be worthwhile in 12-18 months time, right now, its poor value for money.Rather get cheap HD-DVDS or source hd material another way

Can you show any examples of the low bitrates you mention? Also there is a vast amount of excellent HD content, to you it may be poor but to others the £10 sub is excellent value for money, which can’t be said about the VM 1 channel offerings.
well, day 1 and i'm completely ****** off with Virgin media.
They installed it all, TV doesnt work because the box wasnt registered, so i'll need to wait until sometime tomorrow (anytime throughout the day) can get it swapped out (the office shuts at 5.30, yet they do installs until 6? Riiiiiight)
Come to setup my bband, punch in my pin, and my surname. and nothing, no worky. This is because the surname they gave me is ssfhgfd, as opposed to Mr Pug
30 mins on hold and they finally change my account name over, and i can get it sorted. BBand now working. tho the irony of it was that the 5 welcome pages, with the video on page 1 introducing you kept buffering and wouldnt play lol

cant use it, only the freeview channels. None of the XL, none of the OD and none of the V+ features.
a ****-up whereby the system wasnt registered(? or something) when it left the depot, and as they installed it after 5.30 couldnt get it registered over the ophone 'cos it was shut.
lol, all in all a **** start!
They are most certainly SKY Channels!

Compared to most HDTV available in the world SkyHD has high bitrates and it's H.264 so it counts for even more. Some of the best quality HDTV outside of Japan.

you will really hate me too then, i get XL everything with talk unlimited for £41.
just phone up to say your leaving and they will sort you out
Compare it to the stuff you can download it is nothing special, £10ppm is a lot imo, esp when you have to pay a fair bit for the box in the 1st place, dont get me wrong Virgin are no better in this respect either, they are just prepared to give you a decent deal when you shout and scream at them.
The movies on SKY look no better than DVD in most cases, much of the SKY1 stuff is upscaled.
If you dont believe me, do a quick google.As i said earlier in 12-18 months time it will be a hell of a lot better, or atleast i hope it will.
On a side note,how are people finding C4HD? i have it on my euro HD box and looks like they have just upscaled everything badly

yes thanks matey - all in and done. On the whole i'm pleased, but i think it will take a wee while to fully appreciate it.
Little dissapointed as i (wrongly) assumed i'd be able to watch the 4OD stuff for free (for example never got into skins - so was gonna watch them all back now on OD - but they're 99p each.
but hey ho - pic is good, GUI is a little slow to respond, but theres lots of layers to it, so its all good
