test 3: breaking 10s Pi and hitting 570FSB on air

Isn't the CPU PLL voltage range a bit high? On most boards it goes down to 1.5v as I think that is standard....?

Im guessing auto is 1.5v

If you look at some of the labels and their pics...

Vdimm, 1.8v to 3.3v

starts with auto and then 1.85v -----> 1.90v

NB voltage, 1.25v to 1.65v

starts with auto and then 1.275v ---->1.300v

Id love to see proper descriptions of motherboard bios functions and settings in the column on the right hand side instead of some really bad translation which in general does nothing for your sanity or your overclocking results.

I couldn't agree more with the above

Feel free to post the manual up on the forums, and I'll proof read ;)

QX9770 @ 490fsb on Air. J&W X48D2-Extreme

again, by VictorWang on XS:

have to say the board really rocks as a x48 ddr2 mobo for quad-fsb

left all settings in bios by default, i can clk to 480fsb (boot into OS).
have to raise vNB higher to make it stable

nb=1.6v
vtt=1.425v
pll=auto
all ref=max
now i hope their R&D can add 3:4 ratio and fine tune 266fsbstrap to get higher memclks and better efficiency

I don't think 'interest' is going to be a problem kenofstephen, I think the problem will be getting this board to market before exeryone goes out and gets the DFI board that Monstermunch has :)

shipment will be 100% within 2 weeks time,
but whether users can wait or not is out of my control...:)

great news but how much are we talking about here? any rough figure? it must be well under 160 for people to consider it over the DFI X48 IMO ;)

I don't think it's that cut-and-dried. I think that J&W are such a breath of fresh air in the UK market that a lot of enthusiasts will buy their stuff, simply because they are so helpful and responsive to suggestions. And cheap.

I have both the X48-DQ6 and the DFi X48-LT-T2R and I've been very disappointed, given the high cost of the DQ6 and the multitude of options of the DFI, as I haven't really got any better overclocks with these than I could with my P35 or X38 boards. The only benefit for me was dual x16 PCIe slots. And why pay extra for dual x16 slots over X38 while X38 is still available, EOL of not?

If you're buying today, get the DFI X48 as it wipes the floor with the X48-DQ6.

BUT! What I'm looking forward to with the J&W X48 is similar performance to the DFI but at a slightly lower price, with the same build quality and engineering attention to detail as the P35 board (it doesn't need Vdroop correction because it has no Vdroop) and the same responsiveness from J&W that we saw when issues arose with the V1.2 BIOS on the P35 board.

from Victor's comments, the shortcomings are because of the Award BIOS,
of course may also because of some other hardware related issues...
