Yup don't matter how good you can block, if your forearms break :p

My fave is when Pikachu uses Thunderbolt on Nidoran... ¬_¬"

Real fighting is boring or fake. Martial arts used to be good, then over the last 10 years they have been massacared, milked and beaten with a stick and are no longer interesting.

No style. I did Shotokan, Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do, Gojo Ryu, Seven Animal Gung Fu, western boxing, you name it. They all have their rigidities and stylised forms and each holds you back in combat. Chalk one up for Jeet Kune Do I guess. I've been into martial arts since I was 6, eventually at black belt level I was invited to fight on the GB freestyle squad but my kidneys packed up. Oh well.

Martial Arts takes years to learn and master, most Martial Arts have turned more and more into a form of competitive sports than real Self Learning, Body Understanding Arts.

People want to be like who they see on TV these days, thus most "martial arts" have just blended into a pile of quick learning sports.

Edit: oh and OMG at some rather unorthodox school of martial arts practice - they were more on earning money from students, they take on more students than they can teach and 9 times out of 10, the club teachings more physical warm up than the style and understanding of the arts.

drunken boxing

because drunken master is the best film ever

Yep, gotta agree with that one. Drunken Master is the best martial arts film I've ever watched and that covers quite a few films by now.

However if I wanted something for defence then it would either be Aikido (may not look spectacular but is pretty damn effective at making sure you don't get injured) or perhaps Krav Maga which is simply quite brutal frankly. Capoeira looks very pretty but I have no real idea how effective it is as a fighting technique.

P'orqualo.

:)

Even Google is failing me, what is that?
