Hmmmm old school merc goodness

Always liked these, dont tend to rust quite like the 210's and 202's of the same era.

Good colour to, but it would have to be the SL 60AMG:D

Yep, I didn't mean mercs since then have been poorly built. C and E classes have been rather poorly received but from what I've read the S class was still well built. Previous gens were hewn from granite, though and the philosophy fox mentioned is the reason for that.

I suppose going on that the last of the bulletproof merc's could be said to be the facelifted 2001 run out models of this R129 shape. Beautiful cars, a mate of mine actually has a 2000 R129 in silver for sale, absolutely immaculate. Wants around £12000 for it.

It was the last Mercedes Benz built under their old philosphy that a car was designed, built and THEN priced. It is the opinion of many that it is the last to exhibit true Mercedes Benz build quality.

I thought that was also said for the 190?

The 190 ended production in 1994. It was also the lowest, cheapest model they made. I very much doubt if that was ever said about it!

Dont forget that shape SL lasted years - introduced in 1989 and not replaced until 2002.

Wires are crossed my end then!

they did drag out that SL too, wowzers!

I take it I'm one of the few who finds the grill and lights on new mercs absolutely horrid? Ugly cars, the lot of them.

However, that older SL500 looks great; I much prefer the lights and grill on it :)

How come when I've posted 560SELs et cetera they've been slated...?

Can't say I'm a fan of the OP...It's a bit "I own a double-glazing emporium and spend afternoons at the golf club" for me.
