8800gt/gts: How loud are they ?

just wandering ... as i prefer to keep my pc as quiet as possible and if there anything like my 7800gt (and thats pretty darn loud) then i dont know if i would be interested. Would you say the 8800gt or gts are quieter then the 7800gt from bfg i have ?

The GTS is quieter than the GT due to having a 2 slot cooler

depends what speed the fan is on ive got my gts at 46% constantly and it's just inaudible, when i put it up to 47% i coudl hear it just over the system noise so turned it back down and it idles at about 36-40 depending on room temp and maxes between 47-57

at 100% tho its sounds like its got a turbo prop

with the fan @ 50% they are very quiet, push the fan to 65% & you will hear it. @ 100% they are loud, but I have never needed to push the fan above 65%

the 8800GT's with the revised cooler are nice and quiet, i can only hear it in intensive games but only if i have the volume low...which i dont see why anyone would

what about those who live at home an are told to go to bed early but wake up sneakily and get some gaming action on without parents knowing its what i used to do.... then uni came along hoorahhhh crank up the volume!

My 8800 GT, which had the original small fan was silent, even underload.

The GTS is very loud at 100%, but it'll only get there if there's bad cooling contact on the board or you're heavy OC'ing and benching.

I prefer the GTX's cooler I have now, still rather quiet at 100% duty although it's all relative since I can't remember what RPM each fan runs at. Doesn't stay on 100% briefly on POST either which the GTS did
