This is a real pain the rear but its the only way to play Metal Gear Online.

Once you've created one, post it here and I'll make a list so we can add each other to MGO.

First star: KONAMI ID: choose your personal MGO BETA ID
Be aware that you cannot use CAPS.

Second star: PASSWORD: You need to enter (and re-enter it in the box just under it) your password, which should include minimum 9 symbols, in these 9 symbols at least 2 digits.

Sony should just have said to Konami 'Listen we will host all the online crap for MGO' Would just be another way to tie it down to the PS3 imo.

Also what is with all these secret questions? I am getting annoyed with all these places wanting secret questions that are all the same. hack 1 you get the answer for many things!!

Am i the only one that keeps getting ID unavailable? I've tried around 10 different combinations including adding random numbers and it refuses to accept them.

[EDIT] I give up, it accepts nothing i give it.

[EDIT2] I gave it one last shot, it seems they refuse any username that begins with the word 'street', maybe they have something against pedestrians? In all my games i go by the name streeteh, have done ever since quake world, however in metal gear i shall be... timrobson27 or timmay27 depending on which user name you want, has kind of a nice ring to it eh?

Bleh, just realized my typo :(.

I didn't use street in my password anywhere, my actual password is completely unrelated to the word 'street', what i MEANT to say was it refuses any USERNAME starting with the word 'street'.

[EDIT] Just to clarify that it hated me, one of the usernames i tried was street_spirit27. and many variations of that sort of thing, all were refused.

No probs at all for me last night, dont you all know that all your game id have to start with either solid or liquid? Perhaps metal gear would work? ;) It seems a bit picky TBH and the numeric password caught me out first time (teach me not to read lol). Anyway as i put in the MGO beta thread my game name is solidsmallios.
 
Wow, what a crap signup. Finally fixed all the 'NO! WONT LET YOU USE THAT USENAME/PASSWORD!' errors, then it says 'service unavailable'. Why oh why can't we use our Sony accounts?

edit: on second time through it won't accept ANY konami id. This is awful beyond measure.

It seems like this is needed for JPN to get their MGO Beta codes and also for the US versions. It probably made sense to konami to use the same thing for all regions, even though its a pretty dumb idea, maybe some kind of way to log numbers of players, their location etc, possibly for working out server loads or something like that maybe. I hope, and im pretty sure it will be, for the full MGO it will use your PSN ID instead.

I was thinking the same thing as you. Betas need to be controlled far more than a full game, they need to know exactly who is doing what and when so they can figure out any problems they are having. If it was using the PSN login system they would have thousands of pretty much anonymous bug reports with no real control over who is reporting them. At least with this system they are able to control who has access to the beta independently of the PSN system so they are able to remove people without having to ban their entire PSN access.
