Do you not mean "suranné" rather than "sourianie"? "Suranné" kind of means "outdated". (in which case it would be "the name appeared outdated to me")

Yep, more or less that. I don't know what Sourianie is or what "Mon" means in this context; it usually means "My". Don't know what "Bau" means either.

I'm nitpicking, and probably wrong! but 'il semble' = it seems and not 'it feels' I think.

It's a direct copy and paste.

Here's what someone said on another forum:

I couldn't find any translation of the word "sourianie", but it seems to be derived from the verb "sourir", i.e. "to smile". I'm also not sure about "au bau de", which I translated as "instead". I don't know if Offenbach himself made it up or if it is an ancient form of "au lieu de", which actually means "instead".
