Where do ppl recommend?

Been thinking about: Japan, New York, Venice,

Basically what places/sites in the world should people definately see if they can?
 
NYC would be good :) I doubt Japan would be doable as the flights would be so expensive.

I went to NYC last Christmas on my own, and it worked out at about £1.5k for 4 days. But it should be cheaper in September!

What kind of weather are you looking for? Canada (Toronto/Montreal/Quebec) might be an option too? but it wont be especially warm!

How about Iceland?
 
yeah not looking to go when its extremely cold. But ive always wanted to go to New York. Winters are quite harsh across the pond apparently.

iceland is on my list as well....lol do you read minds or smt? Its hideously expensive to get to/stay as well or so ive been told
 
Iceland is about £250 to get to, and £80+ a night for a place to stay. Food and drink isn't cheap though.

I'm planning on going this year and the budget will be about £1.5k for a long weekend.

can't recommend it enough
Everything is in one country
You want rolling mountains, lush forest, perfect beaches, crystal clear sea, great nightlife, amazing culture etc etc..

it has it all.
 
For culture, Japan wins hands down for me.

avoid China like the plague.

Perhaps somewhere in the US? Dunno about it being highly cultured but you'll have a lot of entertainment wherever you go!

Egypt? Could get a package reasonably and stay 5* and then see the cradle of civilization! I'd love to visit the pyramids and then go into the museums in Cairo. Oh, and it would be hot there I guess.

Turkey, you could stay 5* and thus have a great time. Lots to see and do there, despite fellow OcUKers saying it's hell on earth.

The Canary islands? Something about them interests me.

Out of all of these that I've suggested I'd go with a break to Cairo 5* for 6-8days. you can have it all sometimes :D

Or a mad 5 days in Amsterdam... it has plenty of culture, especially interesting 'contemporary culture' to be witnessed too. Plus it's really good for people watching as there are all kinds of wierd and wonderful people.

Copenhagen is good too.

Berlin, I'm told is awesome.

That's all I've got atm.
 
Malaysia? Lots of lovely islands, less backpackers than Thailand- Singapore is nearby too.
Brazil? Amazing place (Doing the coast from Salvador to Rio this summer :D)

going with a m8. Ive heard things about iceland women though :D (good things)

other sightseeing as well though...the Blue Lagoon, northern lights etc :D

i'll have a longer holiday somewhere else later on in the yeari reckon
