PLEASE help me find a bar in London for my birthday.

Try Pangaea? :D

But seriously, the budget sounds a bit low for central london. You might be able to get a pub...

Gallery Rendezvous on Beak Street (off Carnaby Street) does karaoke, and is cheap with private rooms.

Plenty of places round there to go out after too - there's a good blues/jazz bar just down the road, but doubt you'd fit 70 people in.

Edit: I definitely wouldn't recommend you stay the entire night there, but it's good for karaoke.

Thats illogical, if you're going to spend the night in a private room with your friends then why go to the most expensive place in the country?

You're not going out to meet people so a decent crowd doesn't matter, you want a private room so a nice trendy place doesn't matter because private rooms aren't going to be that nice unless you spend serious money. Anywhere in central london will be expensive for drinks and will object to you bringing your own.

If you seriously want to try, the big chill house in kings cross is great fun but I doubt it'll be cheap and the area aren't that private. The strongroom in shoreditch is a great bar/club but it's small so 70 people might be the whole place - cheaper but still not cheap. Vibe bar on brick lane I've done for parties, booked an area and just chilled out, they may have a private area you could book.

Depends what night you're talking about, if it's thursday/friday/saturday I'd forget the whole idea on that kind of money.

never get a tab either!

for my gfs birthday last year we got an area at a bar near old street and started a tab for the few that were there intially.. they put everyone that came drinks on the tab and we ended up spending £750 :( and didnt recoup any of it as everyone denied putting drinks on it.

You want a bar for your birthday? Well just don't be too disapointed when you get some novelty socks instead. :p

PK!

well it is possible. found a place in knightsbridge £500 minimum spend, enough room for 70 people, but the drinks cost a bomb.
£8 a cocktail, £7 a mixer and coke, and it's only open till 11pm.

I don't want a whole pub, just a private area and want a karaoke machine in it.

Didn;t think it would be so hard, neither so expensive.

Dust Bar in Farringdon is pretty cool, has an upstairs bit which should suit that amount of people which you could probably get a karaoke dude to come in or something, no idea about price though.

Also what about Bloomsbury Bowling? They have karaoke booths which you can hire and a reasonably decent bar

Only £600 minimum spend between 70 people? Cheapskates, lol :p

Walkabout do private rooms as well, that's bound to be cheap, again dunno about karaoke though but I suppose you could probably sort something out.

Theres a karaoke bar in Farringdon with an upstairs karaoke bit which is about right for 70 people that you could hire, plus a downstairs more general bar, can't remember the name but it's just up from Turnmills

*edit*

LOL if you want to come to Seven Sisters, there's actually a remarkably nice bar that's opened up round the corner from my house that as a result of being really nice doesn't have anyone in, lol. They have karaoke and a private room, as well as a projecter screen connected to an X360 and a Wii, it's awesome :p

Oooh! I'm always up for somewhere new, what's it called?

Though my capacity for adventure has been tamed by truly the oddest night I've been to in a while at the foundry (near old street)

Shoreditch is your best bet surely? The others will all be £8 a drink..?
Actually Shoreditch rocks, is cheap, full of "adventurous" students (;):D), and has a massive variety of bars and clubs. It's a great night out providing you can keep yourself out of trouble (if you so much as sniff for trouble in Shoreditch, it will find you.)

What about the Zoo bar in Leicester Square?

I've been to a student bash there with a private room (no DJ in the room though)

Drinks were 4-5 for decent cocktails IIRC.

Should be affordable I think

Go for Dust Bar, speak to Shane, he will be happy to accommodate for you guys. Or if you want a nice club for 70 people let me know, but you will need about £5000-6000.

There was an OcUK bash there a few years ago. £££ and pretentious.

Oh, and booking a "private area" just means they'll put bits of paper on some of the chairs with "Reserved" you'll have to fight for your seats, and keep fighting to stop others nicking them throughout the night.

Zoo Bar pretentious?! It's just full of scummy people!
