£5k for a second car...

In terms of sheer grip I'd suggest nothing will go around corners better than a £5k Scooby.

So my point, which was that a v6 mondeo may be decently fast in a straight line, but isn't great when actually trying to get somewhere fast (with corners) compared with a 5k scooby, was correct then.

I'm not sure why people are trying to compare Mondeos to Impreza Turbos. This is ridiculous, really. The Impreza Turbo is noticeably quicker and will corner noticeably faster and has an interior thats noticeably crapper.

Its times like this i wish i could magic myself back to 98 and quote stuff at you.....

The mondeo was class leading, mainly due to its handling, followed by the 406 and primera.

Grip and handling are two different things.

But is it?
I'll give you the handling part, but put a MK2/MK3 2.5V6 up agasint a Scooby Turbo2000, apart from a standing start there isnt much in it!
Plus the interior and drive of a mondeo with full leather is much nicer than the hard buckets and rattles in a scooby

YA RLY. Go on then, what Mondeo-class car was reknowned as being a better handler?

Primera GT ;)

ok ok, it's too close to call but meh

Anyway, i still can't think of a better car with 5 doors, LSD, sharp handling, awesome sound and reliable for 5k than a well looked after Accord Type R.

I wouldn't pay £50 for that car, let alone £5,000. Piece of junk.

ROTFL.

If you are looking for an octavia vrs, something like this would be good;

Major work just done on it :)

What is this forum's obsession with a car thats built from the reject VAG parts that weren't good enough for a Golf Mk4, and which is uglier on the outside, uglier on the inside than the Golf reject bits that it was based on, and handles like a wardrobe on castors!?

Yes, they gor ound corners better than anything else in its class.

That's not saying much given that the competition is Cavaliers, Vectra, Lagunas and such like....
