Currently, i'm with HSBC and RBS, i've always used HSBC's online banking and although i get along ok with it, i don't feel its totally well thought out at all... Since opening my RBS account, their online banking is all very different, but i'm not really a fan of their site either.

Maybe i'm just picky, but i do a fair bit of online banking, and i wouldn't mind finding a bank that has a decent online account, and possibly heaven forbid, was nice and accessible on my mobile possibly? It would have to be part of the main competition though unfortunately, because i still occasionally need to go in and out with cash/cheques (annoying but necessary evil).

To save me signing up new bank accounts with everyone to "test" them :p has anyone had experience with the major banks online websites, and in what order would you put them?

Cheers for the help :D

Haha, my mum uses that, it doesn't look great, neither did her HBOS's either :( what highstreet banks does that leave with me then? Geez, you'd think one of those money grabbing *******s would pay someone decent enough to design something properly? :D

Well i've not had a problem with HSBC or RBS, and same for my mum with HBOS and Lloyds, but they just don't seem that well designed and quick to use. In an ideal world AJAXy would be awesome but i know i'll never get that anytime soon!

Barclys mobi site seems promising, because right now i can use HSBC online but the sit obviously wasnt designed with S60 or opera mobile etc... in mind at all!

If you want to bank using your mobile there's always the possibility of signing up for phone banking as well and using that?

Phone banking is ok and generally when you have internet banking setup you can "phone bank" too; well i can, but i'm not a fan of paying an 0870 number for this privilage, nor a fan of waiting for someone to do something i could have done pretty quick had they got a decent website...

Why? It's far better than the joke of a system that Natwest and Barclays have, unless either of those have updated. I don't have any problems with Lloyds' system :)

Asks for an 6 char piece of memorable info but actually needs 8, result = me not being able to enter anything when it asked for the 8th digit and having to call lloyds who couldn't verify my id because I had only just opened the account and didn't have any direct debits or standing orders setup, they seem to think that DD's and SO's mean everything when it comes to verifying somone, so then they sent me a letter and it took about 2 weeks before I could use their system again.

If you needed any proof at how bad it is all you need to do is try to log on now.

Hmmm may look into it then, i've just watched my mum use it from afar, and she seems to make it look difficult (but then again she makes a lot look difficult... :D).

I think its probably best i just go and create an account with everyone down the highstreet and test them out myself. Can this screw me over credit wise? They'd only be current accounts...

:D :p :D

Have i missed any major highstreet banks out here?

HSBC
HBOS
Abbey
Nationwide
Natwest
LloydsTSB

I can imagine anymore on the street, so far i don't really feel compelled to change banks, they all sounds "ok" but aren't going to win any awards, right?

Theres that Yorkshire, forgot the full name

whats like a typical banking account, is it a current account?

Still better than Barclays cutting off my business's online banking access until we received a mysterious pinsentry device which they didn't send for ages.

I think the lesson with banks is that everything works so long as nothing goes wrong....then you're screwed :D

You don't like your online banking because it goes down for half an hour at 2am? That's just stupid. Banks have to update at some point.

Yeah, I think NatWest online banking goes down for a little while at a similar time every night. Other than that, I think it works pretty well.
