Accident compensation claim
Looking for a point in the right direction:
Girlfriend was in her parents' car stopped in a queue of traffic; 17.5 tonne truck didn't stop and ran into the back of the car, writing it off, parents were ok, but as g/f was sitting in the rear of the car she got the biggest shunt; was taken to hospital and given treatment for whiplash and x-rays. She was discharged with pain killers that night and she was signed off for two weeks.
After a lot of convincing from me, we wrote to the insurance company of the truck firm and claimed for compensation, weeks later (today), we received a letter with an offer for £1000.
Is this a suitable amount? Or should we pursue further, at the risk of going to court? I know she won't want that hassle.
Thanks
