Hey.

I'm heading out to buy a humidifier on Monday as advised by a Dermatologist.

It's to be used in my bedroom, which isn't massive by all accounts, but neither is it very small.

I'm just concerned as my PC equipment, Television, Stereo and so forth are all in my bedroom.

Will the humidifier cause any problems do you think?

Does anyone have a similar setup and has a humidifier?

As far as I know, computers should be operating at a relative humidity of 70 - 90% (may be completely wrong, shrug) and so you could see what sort of humidity levels your humidifier will be putting the room to.

Well, I was only looking at buying a cheap one, and I'm not sure if it will have the ability to tell me what level of humidity it is giving me .... hmmm

You can buy cheap humidity meters from places like B&Q. I don't think you'll have any problems with electrical equipment though. I doubt they have custom made stuff for naturally humid countries so your humid bedroom should be OK :)

Aye, think youll be ok. another alternative is a pet shop that sells reptile stuff, you can buy a cheap analogue hydrometer(sp?) for 3 or 4 nuggets.
Normally used for tree frogs, lizards and such.

Thanks for the replies guys :)

I was going to buy a cheap one (£25.00) from Argos. Looks like a teapot, but im sure it will do the job just fine. So aslong as my baby (PC) will be fine in the new environment, then all is good in the world.

As stated above, it shouldn't bother your electronics at all (unless you have it blowing directly on them of course). But keep in mind that humid air is going to make you feel much warmer in the summer. Ask your derm about an oil-free moisturiser for your skin, it might be more comfortable.

I may look into the moisturiser thing, but unlikely its for me as I have quite sensitive skin.

The humidifier is going to be based across the room from my equipment so it should be fine then.
