what great memories I had playing AOE online over at the microsoft site (cant remeber what it was called)

Bought AOE3 a few years back and for me they totally ruined one of the most popular games off all time.

Any one miss AOE games like Age of kings etc ?

Ofc, AoE 2 was an awesome game. AoE 3 was pure rubbish. It was like C&C without tanks

i liked ao3 but no, it will never beat aoe2.

aoe2, pot of tea and a packet of custard creams and im in my element! i was actually thnking of playing it today

AOE 2 has to be one of the best RTS' of all time.. was a fantastic game!

I loved getting upgrades before your opponents and sending new technology to destroy their arrow huts!

Yep AoE 1 and 2 were great. Empire Earth is a good follow on.

AoE3 was fine, just nothing compared to AoE2 +Expansions. To be honest, I really loved Age of Mythology as well, although most people don't seem to.

Age of Mythology is my favourite RTS ever. In fact, it's the only RTS campaign I've finished right through to the end. Everything else I've played, C&C, AoE, Dawn of War, Warcraft, I only get about half way through and then get bored.

Easily! I remember we used to have 4vs4's for upto 4 hours long. Good times!

Would you guys be up for a couple of games in the not too distant future?

I found my old boxed copy of Age of Empires Gold Edition over the weekend - includes the Rise of Rome expansion.

I would definitely recommend 'Rise of Nations' to anybody that enjoys AOE - it adds in some Civ type elements to the game.

The orignal AoE has been ported to Windows Mobile\Pocket PC and is actually quite playable.
