Those who have done a euro trip!

Hi AcidHell2.

Firstly, What map software are you using there?

Secondly, From point J to I drop down into the Nurburgring if its somewhere you've never been before, well worth the experience.

From Point F to E, surely a visit to Modena home of Ferrari is in order? Never researched it but Im sure there must be a museum / collection located within that region?

I don't think we'll be driving anything worth the Nurburgring, so think I'll save that for another trip. Also They aren't car fans either, so I think one car place would be enough and I would much rather go to the Lamborghini one.

It's just google maps at the moment.

Don't go via Plymouth it takes 8 hours and costs a fortune.

That is true(did a beer run on that when at uni), could do Portsmouth or calais. It really depends where we want to stay the first night.

It's probably quicker and easier to just go via Dover and drive down.

Can also get the fastcat from Portsmouth now which takes 2 and 3/4 hours IIRC. and its not stupid expensive if you book mid week either.

Acidhell, i'd love to do something like this.

The route you planned out, what sort of mileage does that come to?

Just under 4000

I can't believe you are going to all the crappy places in Europe and avoid the beautiful Alps and the stunning mountain passes!

As I said none of it's decided.
Apart from Rome and Krakow.

The Alps would be great to drive through, any idea what some good roads are?

I was in switzerland 2 weeks ago, about 1/2 hour from Lucerne, its certainly a fantastic country for driving, the mountains are a sight to behold imo, just dont get bitten by a Mosquito like i did:( i was staying near the stoos mountain, what a place.

As for hotels, look att he Accor chain, the have the hooker class Formule 1, for about 40 euro a night and the reasonable Ibis stuff for around 60 euro, just make sure they have parking.

Wow just wow. On those photos.
just use my autoroute file and you will end up there

just some info from an email the organiser sent me.

Hi Please find attached the route we took,( In Microsoft Autoroute ) my advice would be to split the days if you want a leisurely holiday the days were a little too long especially day 2 from Dijon to Nice , day 4 Nice to Martigny and day 5 Martigny to Garmish-Partenkirchen. When planning the route I tried to exclude motorways where possible and as the months progressed I kept adding more and more cols and passes. The mileage per day doesn't appear unachievable but in mountain terrain 50mph average is good. NB don't miss Livigno (Tax free principality, fantastic prices on Electrical goods, Alcohol/ tobacco and fuel)
I had started planning this summers trip, I am looking at taking the ferry to Santander then spending 3 days crossing the Pyrenees (East to west, stop over in Andorra tax free) then take in the Millau suspension bridge before staying on the Italian riveria and making our way up to the Nurburgring via the Alps. last year we had 25 cars on the tour. , Its not only open to Honda's we had 4 other makes of car , the group is very mixed, married couples, mates, singles from all walks of life, aged 18-60. we split up into very small groups and never travel in convoys above 3-4 cars, you don't want unwanted police attention, strictly no stickered up cars, I am very strict on telling people its a tour/holiday not some sort of race or rally.

Thanks jamoor, any idea how he found out about mountain passes and where to go. As I would really like to go further east before going back up.

If you were doing the Calais crossing, then a visit to the old Reims circuit would be mandatory. Some big names raced there but it was closed in 1972. Most of it remains as public roads and a lot of the buildings are still there.

We found the middle of France to be a little boring to be honest, miles and miles of dead straight roads, we got quite excited when we could see a bend approaching :D

If you like a bit of culture then Vienna is a great place. There is a very tall tower with a rotating restaurant at the top which you can get a great view of the city and the Danube whilst supping "ein bier bitte".
