Eco-mile-eater Spec-me-do

Why do people care about residuals on cheap cars? I mean come on, once a car is worth noticeably less than £10k it's depreciated, hasnt it? You spend £4k on a car, thats it, its a £4k car, thanks very much. It's not going to be worth a substantial amount of money ever again whether you put 4k on it or 400k on it.

Stop worrying about residuals when buying a cheap car, becuase if you do you end up with something ancient like a Golf. When buying cheap cars, find something with utterly shocking residuals because you get a newer, better more modern car for your money.

I would say a Peugot my mum and dad used to have ones and they were very good of the old fuel, could get somthing crazy per tank like 800 miles! they were quite big tanks though, 406 estates.

Do people even worry about residuals on a £1000 car?

A £3k car has worse residuals than a £1k car over any given period.

I think he was just suggesting the two cars would cost similar over the 2 years or whatever ignoring the value of the car at the end of the period. Ie the £3k car should be still worth atleast 2k to sell on.
