Hazro Aluminium monitors now available from OcUK!!

Do I get commission for kicking off the Hazro posts and asking Gibbo to get them into OcUK? :p

From sitting in front of the thing I don't think it's a wide-gamut screen, it's much closer to my old 72% (sRGB) TFT. That's actually a good thing for me, as I do mainly web work (if I do any graphics work, I'm a programmer) and thus don't need the extra gamut for pre-proofing purposes.

slightly disapointing to hear that, am pondering if all this high gamut really does show a large difference in colour reproduction.

Thanks for the insight.

Just need to know about the colour gamut.
TFTCentral seem to think its 72%
Its advertized here and on OCUK`s site as 92%

Which is it 72% or 92% ? can anyone clarify ?

it's 72%....although I've had an email from Hazro saying it should be 92%. Clearly, if you look at the CIE diagrams on the left here:

calibrated.jpg

the gamut only covers the sRGB colour space, ie 72% NTSC

The HZ26W offers 92% coverage and looks like this:

(note, these are results after calibration)

ps, excellent news to see them here Gibbo ;)

edit: Gibbo is updating the product pages with the gamut specs, i've updated the top of this thread to correct as well.

Thanks....
These though..are the same diagrams I`ve all ready seen over at TFTCentral.
This is why I was questioning the advertized specs.

If you`ve had an email from hazro saying different. We`ll just have to wait and see whether or not they are any different.

yes, sorry, I should have said. Those are the ones on TFTCentral, but wanted to link to them since that is my review ;) I believe it's the only review of the HZ24W so far, but hopefully one of the owners from ocuk can also confirm with their tests. I had an email from someone at Hazro saying there was some confusion, but i ahve since responded saying i think the confusion is at their end....that's def a 72% gamut, certainly the model i tested was 72% gamut. The OcUK spec is being updated accordingly as well.

Yes I have 5 eyes :)

Actually I wouldnt know the differences, if there is any apart from better colour reproduction. I proberly wouldnt notice the difference anyhow but would be nice to have it regardless:)

haha, thought i'd ask in case. Well extended gamut will make no difference to colour accuracy at least, it just means there is a larger range of colours in theory that the backlighting units can produce. In practice, you may notice colours look slightly more "vivd" and greens are a little deeper in particular. It is a bit gimmicky though tbh, and not much use if you're not using extended gamut content or actually 'need' the extra gamut. Still, like you say, nice to have i guess, although i wouldn';t hold your breath that the HZ24W will offer 92% NTSC coverage

ahh thx for the explanation, yeah proberly overkill as it is :)

Sorta irony but so far hazro has all the ticks in all the right areas I think its my next screen:)

Pardon me if I seem a little naive, but those contrast ratios seem a bit low and the responce time seems a bit high for that price tag :( One can purchase a 24" monitor with considerably better specs than the 23" Hazro for a lower price.

This is a bit like comparing a 10Mp compact camera with a 3" screen and saying that it is obviously better than a 6Mp DSLR with a 2.5" screen because it has a "better spec' when obviously the DSLR is far superior due to other less obvious reasons.

These Hazro monitors all use S-IPS panels instead of TN or VA panels normally used. This gives them better colour and superior viewing angles. IPS panels are generally considered to be the best of the three types. However as you point out one of their downsides are less deep blacks (resulting in lower contrast ratio). As for response times, do they really mean anything these days?
