Well bikes are meant to be on the road, and if you don't want to be on that particular one, use a different one surely?

EDIT: damn my retarded reading and typing.

Pavements are for pedestrians: So that they are safe from vehicles.

Roads are for vehicles:

If you don't feel safe on/in your vehicle, either you need to choose another type of vehicle or become a pedestrian but don't take your vehicle onto the footpath!

I doubt very much that you did not know that it was against the law and that like many of your fellow cyclists, decided that the law does not apply to you.

lol, I would have told him to get stuffed and rode off!!
I have been riding on the pavements for over 10 years and I am not about too stop!
NO WAY am I going to risk my life riding on the roads when 95% of the time their is a perfectly good and safe pavement to use which has ZERO people on it.

I am considerate however and when I do come across pedestrians on the pavement I slow down to almost a stop when I pass them.
In over 10 years of riding on the pavement I have NEVER hit anyone however for the very small amount of time I actually rode on the road I have been hit twice by idiotic drivers.
Luckily both times I was not seriously hurt but personally I think that had a lot to do with the fact I am very agile and use to be pretty competent at gymnastics when I was younger. Both accidents were serious enough to write off the front wheel both times :(

When it comes to cyclists yes.
He broke the law and got fined. Be a man and just accept it.

Get off your high horse:rolleyes:
I bet you have broken the speed limit before?? That's breaking the law!
Breaking the speed limit puts peoples lives at risk the same CANNOT really be said for riding on the pavement!!

Such a loaded statement. You're talking ********.

Any other situation you'd be complaining about the ludicrous situation of a policeman fining someone for something trivial when a good ticking off would do just fine, but because it's a cyclist you're all for it.

Cyclists are a problem for motorists, motorists are a problem to cyclists; be a man and just accept it.

The roads are for cars and cyclists, be a man and just accept it.

No sympathy from me either :o

I can't believe you did not know that it is illegal to ride a bike on the pavement (sidewalk )

As Clarkson would say "All cyclists should be shot by snipers from bridges" :p

I do accept it :p

What I don't accept is them going through red lights, using the pavement, criminal damage ect. I have no problem with the few decent cyclists.

No one in motors expects sympathy for a speeding ticket, when a simple ticking of would be better.

Bragging about a total disregard for the law. Is this allowed on OcUK?

You go girl!

I know a few people that have been fined for the same thing yet nicked motobikes are up and down the field (on the footpath) behind me all the time, nothing gets done.

Easy target springs to mind.

No he said that all road users that pay road tax must own the roads and thereby have permission to knock anyone down that uses them that don't pay road tax, even though they most likely do but have left the car at home and are therefore saving space on the roads and creating less traffic for all other essential road users. :D

edit.. However, the fine is right IMO.. even though I'm guilty of doing it myself because sometimes it's just damn safer to do so.

To be honest, a car speeding is likely to do a hell of a lot more damage. But I agree cyclists are dangerous. Certain places however I'd think a cyclist mad to go on the road and not the pavement, as long as they are careful.

The majority of cyclists are dangerous and should be removed from the roads, but the same goes for motorists. You just seem to have a personal crusade against two wheelers ;).
