XBox Live + GTA 4 = Connection worry

Anybody else think it might go down, due to the demand of people playing it and trying multiplayer or will MS have it sorted.

I remember Halo 3 took a hit at midnight.

Made a new thread because of the spoilers in the official one.
 
i think undoubtedly it will go down, i would be gobsmacked if it didn't. And when there is a patch released, god help us.
 
You guys make it sound like it has dedicated servers? Surely the MP is the same as all other XBL games, reliant on our connections, not servers..

As for patches though.. indeed.. god help us all.. even the silver members will be trying to patch.. damn peasants!
 
I think MS will be pretty prepared for this, will probably see a hit but nothing like the PSN will recieve, sony have never had a game this big online before, MS have had practise at this
 
If there is another live downtime because of new users I think the back lash would be huge. I'd be amazed if they haven't catered for it this time.

If any thing, only the xbox live service will go down. Don't forget games are hosted through 360 by Peer to Peer.

I reckon it will go down to begin with for sure. Let's hope MS have learned from their Christmas / Halo 3 lessons. The cynic within me reckons they won't have.

It wasn't the case at xmas when live went down because of all the new xbox owners. I'm sure this game is going to attract a hell of a lot more 360 owners as well.

i thought the online was xbox exclusive? said so in major nelsons last podcast (or the one before) the rockstar guys commented that they were "pleased to be offering multiplayer exclusive to xbox live and 360".

I think its fair to say we would have heard about it if the 360 version had online and the PS3 version didn't (you do know how obsessive some people are about "inferior" ports etc don't you?) :)

No, it was badly worded. in reality they were saying that the DLC was exclusive and it would also have online gaming (as would PS3) they just worded it badly.

nah recent analysts are right in saying that this wikll help PS3 more than 360, the 360 already has some killer shooter/action titles that have attracted most of this demographic already. The PS3 has not, however GTA is a sony originated (that is playstation originated) title. At least in its current guise and fan base.

Essentially, there are lots of would-be ps3 owners out there waiting for this game to buy a PS3 but most of the people wanting this on 360 already have a console.

You ain't seen badly worded, in today's Metro paper there is an advert saying it is NOW ON on Xbox 360 (I had to quickly check this thread when I got to work to make sure nothing major had happened like an overnight early release or something!!)

Edit: On 2nd thoughts maybe I will cut out this advert and take it as ammunition to the Supermarket on Friday :)

Xbox Live went down for 8 hours yesterday for maintenance, atleast according to the message I got from them saying it would be on the 22nd April from 9 am for 8 hours (I didn't even try to go online so I have no clue whether it was down or not).

I doubt it will go down because it seems a bit strage doing maintenance exactly a week before launch so they must have been doing something to cope with the influx of people signing in to play GTA in either Single player and Multi-player.
 
The online modes sound like great fun from what I was reading in the latest Games TM magazine, can't wait to try them.
