Hi guys i've just about cooked the clutch in the mondeo and need a replacement i've found a cheap 2 piece quinton hazell clutch kit for £60, are they any good?

i don't plan on changing the slave cylinder or the dmf as that will bring the job cost to £600+

also, does anyone know how many hours labour it will take to do a mk3 mondeo clutch, i know the front subframe has to come out

cheers

My bro-in-law got the whole job done using genuine parts at the Ford stealership for £450?. Also, of all the clutches we fit, QH are the ones that go wrong the most. Also, also, don't skimp on the conectric slave, it ain't worth it...
:)

hmmmm i know luk repset's are good, i had one before and it took a lot of abuse, but it is £140 for my car :(

what about National clutches, there is one for £80

i don't see the point in changing the CSC because its feather light with loads of feel, i have driven brand new cars and this feels better even with 134k. the previous owner worked in kent so i know it's had lots of motorway use and his wife never drove it so its not a school run car, don't see why it should fail?

LUK are good, we fit a lot of their stuff. As for the slave, the sheer amount of work needed to get the box out makes it a no-brainer for replacement...
:)

Too many 5000rpm launches, Danny?:p

yup and changing gear on the limiter. i've been driving a lot harder since i fitted an induction kit it sounds really nice lol, think thats whats done the clutch in. used to easily spin in 2nd before :(

It's not spent its life on the Motorway if the clutch is shot at 130k!

its not fully shot, its perfectly drivable, just slips when having fun ;) (haha that sounds dirty)

i bet if you put your handbrake on and dumped the clutch in 5th at 6k yours wouldn't stall (if it's still on the origional clutch)

also my mate is a mechanic and he says ford always have small clutches compared to other cars. my mk2 mondeo's clutch was shot at 76k, my mates focus 1.8 was un drivable at 90k.
