Hi,

I have been told that asus boards are prone to losing their overclock settings when the system is switched off for some time. If this true this would cause a lot of hassle in continual resetting of bios.
Appreciate any experience here

i've had two asus boards, first one a striker extreme (avoid those like the plague) and my current one a maximus formula (both ROG versions) and haven't experienced loss of settings.

They will fall back to defaults if you do something tragic in the settings, but that's the only thing I've seen any of them do (and that was my K8 something or other).

I'm running 3 atm 1xP5B 1xP5B E+ 1xPCH-DL

All running 24/7 no problems.

I'v done many tragic & stupid things to them and they always keep their settings

Like helmutcheese said change the battery

Nothin worng with striker 1's. I've had my q6600 at a stable 3.5Ghz on water and it will still do more. I've seen the same combo at 3.8ghz. You've just got to know how to tune it.

Some asus boards will lose their BIOS settings, but thats why we have BIOS updates. I can't say I've had this with my striker yet though.

Mine did this recently after being switched off for about a week. It returned to default settings.

I've considered changing the CMOS battery. Wouldn't this reset to default again, all be it for what is hoped to be the last time?

Not had that problem myself?

I've stuck with ASUS motherboards because they always work well for me and just seem really solid, like they are manufactured from bits of old tanks and the like :D

If I was to pick fault with ASUS (and I mean really nit-pick!) it would be that their website is a bit laggy sometimes and also their support/RMA service is a bit clunky and there is scope for improvement there no doubt!

Having said that I've never needed to RMA an ASUS motherboard ever, I have used loads of them bought new and picked up used from auction and I have not been let down yet.

Big Thumbs up for ASUS motherboards from me! what ever that's worth! :o
