AVG FREE 8 OUT

I've just uninstalled Avast and installed this to give it a try. Used to be an AVG user ages ago, but converted to Avast and stuck with it.
Initial impressions of AVG are good, a nice interface and easy to figure out. Will stick with it for a while :)

Thanks for heads-up. Nice interface, don't like the LinkScanner thing though, it seems to add a tiny delay when browsing, when there wasn't one before. Disabled it for now, and also disabled the add-on in Firefox that it installed.

Might give it a go, i love NOD32 but i keep a list of apps i install on fresh installs for people/reccomend to the more adventurous

:eek::eek::eek:

Tell me more! :)

Heheh ;)

Slightly off topic - you don't happen to know if the Antispyware/malware component of that free Premium (Antivir) offer is any good? I have temporarily uninstalled my trusty Spybot S&D, and am totally unsure whether it was a wise move or not. I like the fact that any registry changes were run by the user first...

No idea sorry. I've only ever used AntiVir free and prefer to use Spybot/Spywareblaster for my antispyware programs. :)

Thanks m8 for the stellar tip :)

Just installed this app for the first time on my Aunt's PC and was really annoyed about the popup that appeared, then reading that it appears every time it updates, I was tempted to uninstall. Not now.

Agree that the Linkscanner thing definitely adds a noticeable delay before a web page appears on screen. I have disabled it and the AVG toolbar aswell.
50/50 at the moment. I may be swayed back to Avast ...
