I have a feeling Mclaren may not perform as bad as everyone suspects.
I'm not sure. McLaren are relying too much on Hamilton and I'm not sure if he can deliver. Only time will tell.
IMO they shouldve kept Alonso on for this year, as he wouldve helped them score more points, helped Hamilton with car set ups and assisted in getting the most out of the car during testing. I also believe he wouldve finished ahead of Hamilton in the WDC this year. Either way, it was a no-brainer for him to stay, if all that mattered to McLaren was a high points finish.
Unfortunately, Ron Denis seems to have allowed personal feelings to affect his professional judgement.
I hope Hamilton can pull it back together, because when he isnt in a leading position, he seems to go kamikaze and takes ridiculous risks, usually resulting in him going off the track or crashing into someone. He needs to learn to calm down when he drops behind and think about overtaking during the pit stops, rather than attempting mad-cap overtaking moves on the race track, which could take him out or put him further behind.
Dont forget the opening race of the season was abysmal for Ferrari and people immediately wrote them off,
At no stage did I write off Ferrari. The Australian GP was a strange race where most drivers seemed to be out of form, believing that their cars could survive major collisions with other cars and barriers. The fact that many drivers hadnt raced for many months is the only reason I can think of, which accounts for the fact that so many people went off and crashed.
Pre season testing had showed that Ferrari were consistently quickest and this was born out in 2 out of 3 races.
lets not forget that the first non European races are typically red herrings in recent years, I think Spain will give us a closer indication of what we can expect throughout the year (although Spain is very similar in track configuration to Malaysia).
True.
