I've just renewed my road tax online after realising it was at up on the 31st of March (25 days late). Am I looking at a nice £80 fine on top the extortionate £170 bill? :D

I once forgot and was about 5 days late... think it was probably the fastest thing my web browser had ever done :D

No fine or even a mention of late payment when the tax disc came through the post...

Result :D

Nah, you'll be fine. I've personally not heard of anyone being fined for taxing their car late. That's not to say that people haven't, but from my own experience the chances are low.

Drove past an ANPR van a week after it ran out, I thought the 2 weeks grace myth was true. Didn't hear a thing. :D

Ive had cars before I havent used that ran outta tax for around 2 months and nothing came through (not SORN). Wonder how and when this system does work? Speed cameras?

I wonder why (assuming it's not been SORN'd) they don't fine for late taxing, but do for not displaying a disc (even if they have it on record that you tax is paid).

I disapprove of both (hypothetical) fines , personally.
