ooo, what a good week eh! I still haven't run for a full week 24/7 but i'm not far off. I'll be turning off again this week to fix a dodgy plug socket in the house so should be close to this weeks figures, maybe i'll break 16k.

All i seem to be getting on this machine are Gromacs 2605 for 1760points, getting 3568ppd. I had WUs in the 2ks previously but all i've had for the last week are these non-stop...don't know if this is good or bad!?!?

winsmp on vista64 works fine, but vmware with ubuntu linux is much much better. More stable when shutting down clients if need be. Tough to set up without a very detailed guide for me a beginner, but once done it's easy peasy to keep going.

Next week i should be in the top 200 of the team, then it starts to get more difficult to climb!

I might look in to getting a better cooler to up the cpu speed a bit more but keep the noise dooooowwwwn. Promises more ppd that's for sure.

How long do my stats have to reflect i'm only running my quad core to get my points to be included in the single crunchers table? My mums pc has gone now, and while crunching wus at her house she only turns the thing on for half hour every week so i doubt the wus will get completed in time!?

The 1760 point WUs seem to be the best PPD wise out there at the moment, so you're doing fine luck mate :)

The install onto ubuntu might give you some problems if you get something unexpected - for instance I had one client set to a standard client rather than SMP, and had to remove the current WU info and set the smp flag. At this point it helps it have a basic understanding of UNIX commands :) If anyone wants to try the ubuntu install and has problems, don't be afraid to ask here, there are plenty of people that can help.

The single crunchers league is a manual thing that Mr. millions maintains, so you just need to tell him what you've got. I would stick with single since your mum's PC will be of no use to folding at all with only half an hour every week :P

Good news on the WUs then! cheers!

I managed to find a post in this forum about setting up the samba file server in ubuntu. This means i can access the foldingathome folder within the virtual drives using windows exlporer and change text files in notepad/delete files etc. Which makes sorting things out pretty easy so far!

yeah, no good re mums pc, think i might remove it from there when i'm there next.

cheers fut help

I'm wondering whether to enter the single cruncher league myself. I might switch the borgs over to World Community Grid.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Set them to a new username (theheyes v2.0 or summit).

We need those points!

After that is a different matter ;)

Yeah that's what we're all worried about. :D

The borgs are worth about 600ppd. I have two standard clients running on a home computer (for about 15 months now with no user intervention - wish the SMP client was that well behaved!) and the iMac running 24/7 which spits out a SMP unit every two days. Won't be a massive loss to the team. ;)

I might overclock the folding rig more if I go that route. At 333*9 at the moment but it can do more. Temps hit 70C in the conservatory one sunny day this week. I opened the windows and watch the temps drop to 60C - amazing what a difference a bit of fresh air makes.

All 'ifs' and 'maybes' at the moment. It's Cob you want to keep an eye on. :p

Although I have half an eye on Nehalem... ;)

What is it they say about prodding the sleeping dragon....?

I'm up early this morning to catch the postie bringing me a Q6600. I've had to start a Paypal dispute to either give my Q9450 seller a kick up the butt, or to get my €340 back so I can buy one elsewhere.

Sold my E2180 y-day morning, so my folding rig has been not-on since y-day afternoon. The next few days will be spent overclocking the nuts off the Q6600, so come next week I'll certainly be ready to start stomping all over those folks silly enough to pass me on the Great Ladder of Stompdom over the past couple of months ;)

Y'all been warned!

I dont seem to be getting and PPD from my PS3 according to EOC stats, but upon checing it, its happily crunshing away. Any ideas?

Its sad that its come to this with the Yorkfields :( I admire your patience on this, you've lasted a lot longer than some of us :) Hopefully the supply issues will be resolved soon, the Retail versions haven't even come out yet :| I was planning on upgrading to a Yorkfield processor but I have a feeling it won't be until next year when the prices come down and I won't be able to upgrade without changing mobo.

It also appears that the stats are completely screwed at the moment - the most any team has dumped today (until the latest update just now) is 12k :/

The OEM Q9450's are available in decent quantities in the UK atm, tho they're selling pretty fast. The price has fallen a fair whack too, tho it's rising again as they start to sell out.
