need a new board that can take a q6600 and 2x 8800gtx sli, 8gb of ddr2 & 4x 500gb sata hard drives

no need for optical drives etc or anything like wireless lan or any pci ports or anything (unless i have to)

i dont oc so no need for tons of overclocking potential

Am using xfx 780i here....(it been very stable with no problems at all with running my dualcore cpu and SLI 8800gtx setup)

(I don't own a quad cpu so i can't say what my board would be like with a quadcore cpu..)

If you're not planning on clocking that q6600 then your SLI'd 8800's are going be severly bottlenecked. You'd be better off buying a x38/35 chipset based mobo and sticking to just one 8800, saving yourself some money and (potential) hassle in the process.

The new EVGA 750i F.T.W got mine coming this week. Its been getting excellent reviews & should be cheaper then a 780 board

If you're not going to clock, then the 680i boards should handle that lot, and they are rediculously cheap 2nd hand now...

i would suggest clocking though, as the cpu is going to bottleneck your gfx big time.
