SPL Season 2007/2008 Thread **Spoilers**

Celtic 3 Rangers 2 now

Barry Robson puts Celtic in front from the penalty spot. After a clumsy challenge from Broadfoot on McDonald.

Celtic win and hence so do justice and humanity in general.

my god refs in rangers favour having a laugh....
foul outside the box..... penalty
offside goal to celtic aswell.....

you are joking right?

The foul was clearly inside the box, last man denied a scoring chance should have been a straight red as well.

JVoH was lucky not to walk for his 'challenge' on faye. super bawwy was fairly quiet again, apart from his gob that is.

However, thats the most positive rangers performance i have witnessed all season, and i have seen as many goals given as chalked off that were as offside as mcdonald.

this clown is clearly trying to cause trouble , its also against the rules of the game and here was me thinking it was a footbal match :(

Agreed!!

I am extremely happy about Celtics win in that it keeps our title hopes alive for a while longer and extends the season a little longer. What is refreshing though was seeing Rangers play positively. It was an exciting game for both sides most of the way through and Rangers were unlucky not to come away with points. Hopefully, Wattie will take note and attempt to encourage his players to play that way more often.

Ref was dire today, although I am not going to go like a Celtic Consiprator. Game if anything was balanced, Neither team was really due anything. But thats the way it goes sometimes. Still down to us these last few games, then we will judge.

Celts pile on the pressure. If we win against Motherwell next week then that's us eight in front before Rangers take on Hibs at Easter Road. There's all to play for and we've dragged ourselves back into the hunt for the title. Hail Hail.

Been reading this thread a while now, if Scottish football is to be improved then surley Rangers and Celtic should be aiming to reach the latter stages of Europe every year. By this I mean semi final/final stage the of Uefa Cup. I say the Uefa cup as we have no chance in the Champions league - which should be called European Club Championship as there is only one team which is champions of its own league (Man Utd).

As for the league extension, the SPL should not have relied upon Rangers getting knocked out of the UEFA Cup to sort out their mess. Surley now the league structure will be changed as everybody says that there are too many games and this season has proved that. A change to summer football, watching a game in the middle of July beets frezzing your backside off in the middle of December and increase the number of teams to 16 and play each other twice.

Ideally, yes but it is a cup competition after all which introduces more the element of luck/bad luck also.

there is only one team which is champions of its own league (Man Utd).

Eh? There were a few clubs in the champs league that were champions of their own country.

The league has to finish by a date specified by UEFA. Also, there is no way that the league will be made 16 clubs as the rest of the clubs want to play the old firm more often not less

I mean with a chance of winning it. It could be a Barca Liverpool/Chelsea final when neither of them won there respective leagues. i.e. Champions of Europe are not Champions of their country.

Which is sad as I believe the league would be more competitive and therefore the other teams would have a better chance of qualifying for Europe and therefore get better themselves.
