Laptop spec is...

1.6Ghz Pentium Dual Core
2GB DDR2
Intel GMA X3100 graphics
Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Just wondering if it's really worth trying to run it on here. I have NO idea how well the laptop will perform gaming wise compared to my new PC. I know the best idea would be to try running games on it but it's not my laptop!

Tried running 3DMark06 but it won't even install. Nothing happens when I double click the icon (apart from UAC popping up).

Think it's worth giving 3DMarkV a spin? Any streamlining tips if I do?
Alternatively, what'd be a good benchmarking app to use other than 3DMark?

3dmv requires a DX10 compatible graphics card. So no, your onboard graphics won't handle it.

In fact, the lack of hardware accelerated vertex shaders will most likely be the reason it won't handle even 3dm06.

u will not even will able to run it u need at least 8400m witch would be a slide show

edit: i think if u dont have 8800m dont even bother

The X3100 is an integrated solution and not a discrete graphics chip. As such its pants and may just about run games like wow to an ok standard.

If you want good graphic on a laptop you have to pay for it... and its usually not cheap.

from a review site:

"In testing, the improvement this new engine offers over the older solutions isn't massive - 3DMark06, the industry benchmark for ascertaining the capabilities of graphics engines in general, returned a score of 416. While this result is twice that from the previous generation of integrated graphics, it still proves that integrated graphics aren't for next-generation titles. Top-end cards score around 8,000, with even cheaper cards managing scores around the 4,000 mark."

so about 8 times slower than a cheap low end nivida or ati card or there abouts.
