The double sided ram worked great for 6 months :)
But when I RMA it to receive single sided ram sticks thats when I started running into problems.

Cruial are stupid, say you have 4gb [4x1GB] your double sided set fails, you are left with a working set, send of one of the pairs and get back 2 single sided sticks back from RMA, this is totaly useless as you cant run both sets in the same board, waste of time crucial are.

TiZOR ... not strictly true ...

you can run them at same time .. just at PANTS speeds

740 CAS5 - wow !

ordering some OCZ Reaper today - then going to request a "double-sided" set from Crucial and then sell both Crucial pairs.

working double stuff is great - it would do 1020 CAS4 :) !

well that phone-call went well ! (not!)

no dual sided RAM parts left ....

and there is nothing they can do. I told them that its not the same part (different heatsink, different ICs etc) - but they said it is the same product as its rated at the same speed - I'm not sure I agree with this.

They've said that as all 4 1gb modules don't form a kit - then there is nothing they can do.

VERY annoyed - asked to speak to a manager there later.

Mark.

re:

I phones Crucial and explained that I had double sided ram and that the 2 sticks overclockers sent me were not compatable. So they asked me to send them the double sided and they were good enough to replace it for me with 2 sticks of single sided ram free of charge.
cheers

its going back - just tested it on its own ....

and wouldn't even do 1000 CAS5 - 2.25V - RMA again !

old stuff would do 1020 ish CAS4 !!

OCZ Reaper arrived today .. 8500 stuff ... passed memtest fine at 2.05V 1140 CAS5 !!

Hiya's,
Well at last my replacement 4x1gig 8500 just arrived

Looked in the box and it's single sided

Really dreading trying them to be honest

Thinking out loud, If it's no good i was gonna hold off doing another rma until it seems or is known that crucial have seemingly sorted out any problems with this ram (this is ok is it not ?? )

Ohh well i'll try the ram later

Ciao

We've been waiting a long time for Crucial to sort it out. The single-sided DIMMS were meant to do so. I doubt they'll get much better as they'll soon start concentrating on DDR3.

And yeah you can hold back from returning them for as long as you want. They've a lifetime guarantee.

Micron have always owned Crucial. It's their retail brand. I'm not sure how long they've owned Lexar tho.

I have Recently RMA'd a set of Ballistix 2x512 DDR1 PC4000 (for the second time might i add) they have offered me a set of crucial value ram PC3200 as a replacement. I have told them i am not happy with the replacement because its different specification....

I am yet to receive a reply (its been over a week)
