I'm glad I didn't wait for this, and got the 'Pro when I did now.

It's a nice update, but very much a logical upgrade.

No doubt, but considering this is just a stop-gap update until Intel can phase-out the chips, then it doesn't feel so much like an official update as a forced one.

Come December the Nehalem chips should see a radical change, or so they say...

Its funny actually, I was watching the MWSF keynote last night and the bit where Paul Ottelini (sp) gave Steve the Macbook Air chip.. was like him sealing the deal!

The nehalem chips? Smaller than 45nm or..?

I can't see Nehalem chips making their way into the iMacs until at least Q2 2009. Q1 if we're very lucky.
