I'm thinking of picking up a Yamaha Pacifica 112V - This will be my first electric guitar, had an acoustic many years back.

Any recommendations for an Amp to go with it?, and possibly an fx pedal? (I love the wah wah sound)

Need something low cost but effective (like the guitar really)

Cheers

That's just about in my price range, sorry for the newbie questions but with that amp it has a in-bult effects processor, how does that work exactly without a pedal? and what kind of effects would it have?

Also Disturbin the Peace have an awesome sound, just checked the vids on your page, I'd love to get to that level one day.

You can get the VOX AD15 for cheaper than the other one shown.

Highly recommend both the VOX and Roland - brilliant amps generally, but ideal for a beginner.

agreed - I used thomman for ease of use - you can probably get them a bit cheaper with the exchange rate against the euro being not what it used to be.

The Vox is a bit out of my price range really, I'd say I can spend around £70-£75 on an amp. So it looks like it's either the Roland or the Line6

Hope that helps a bit.
There isn't a pedal so you set the sound and off you go.
An effects pedal with a Wah will set you back more money than the amp will cost so this is the best way to get into effects/amp.

Thanks for the kind words about my band.
We're just 5 old blokes reliving our past but we are as professional as we can possibly be.
The thing is old age is creeping in and next month our lead guitarist goes into hospital to have 2 new hips :)

Took the plunge and gone and ordered this lot:

Hey Inoshishi how is the guitar and amp doing?

I'm also thinking of getting a pacifica 112 but trying to find a cheap second hand one.

off of ultimate-guitar.com:

£100-£200 ($177-$355; 147-294 Euro)

Now you should be moving into quality practice amps- if you spend this amount of money, you shouldn?t need to buy a better practice amp, ever. Unless you want something like a Cornford Carrerra .

Lower Gain:

er... Epiphone Valve Junior/Special?

Mid Gain:

Laney LC15R (1 channel) (Euro, C): Great practise amp. Very nice rock sounds. With an Overdrive you can get quite a lot of gain out of it. All tube and very nice (especially for the price). All tube too, which is a major bonus at this price! (thanks to Gabel)

Vox AD30/50VT (2/3 channel) (Euro, C): Louder versions of the AD15VT

High Gain:

Roland Cube 30/60 (2 channel) (USA, C): Good high gain models, possibly slightly harsh cleans and rock tones. Uses boss non-latching footswitch (according to mnbaseball91)

Peavey Bandit (2 channel) (USA, C): Good range and quality of tones for a solid state amp. Not a modeller, though.

Ones to avoid:
Marshall MG (as before- but add in ?crappy fx? too!), Line 6 Spider II (sounds digital).

Just bought the 112J in green to learn on, same as you. It's been a month, and I'm still smitten with it. Even veteran guitar playing friends have commented on how nice it is to play, and couldn't believe it when I told them what I paid for it. I doubt you'll be disappointed with it. :)

I love it, as above my guitar playing friends who have been playing for over 20years have commented on how well built, how good it sounds and how nice it is to play on especially for the price.

The amp is great, I'm sure there are better pure amps around for the money but this one has the bonus of in-built effects and they do sound very 'cool' for the price your paying.

I'm very happy with both and think it is the perfect starter package, now if I could just learn more chords than A, E and D :D
