Not forgetting, some of these...

And what do you get?

Had this in the pipeline for quite a while. Bought the intercooler at Christmas, shortly followed by a box of random 3" pipework.

Decided that the 3" pipework was VERY overkill for my needs and so sold it for what I bought it for.

I was clicking away last week and have been building up a nice collection of silicone and alloy pipework which I'm looking forward to putting together and making something useful.

I wasn't going to post this until it was fitted, but I've done so well to keep my mouth shut upto now, I thought... what the hell :)

Point a windscreen washer jet at it! Then you can have a boost button, and a great way to annoy people nosing around in your engine bay if you mount it anything like the Impetza or Evo.

haha excellent. Time to hack the bumper apart or do they fit behind on the 420?. I would have to ditch AC or shift the bonnet catch about afaik, which sounds like a royal pita for a few psi.

Your missing a few pipes, a T28, some adaptors to make it fit, oil feed pipe and a load of other stuff yet :p

No point having it on your lil T25 is there!

And then your going to want to upgrade those standard brakes, and get that gearbox rebuilt that you have the bearings for!

Gonna get expensive and you had better get busy doing it and posting less!! ;) :o

Karl, T28 will probably come next year, after turbo-back exhaust. As I'm sure I've told you before, I'm in no rush to get more power, I just decided to fit the IC as I'd had it sitting in my room for months :o

And of course there's a point having it on the T25... whatever you can do to get cooler air in has to be a good thing.

Don't worry, brakes will come before the exhaust too :p

benneh, well I could have gone stupid and got the biggest IC I could find, but then I'd have to cut massive bits of the crash bar away and sod doing that! Plus, it's a Rover so it's supposed to be subtle. I reckon this behind the front bumper will look quite good ;)

BigglesPiP, haha, a top mount IC... I'd have to get a bonnet vent and everything! Waterspray would be a good idea though.

Dogbreath, yep. It increases cooling so I can overclock more :p

Would there even be room, it not being a boxer...

No, lol. It'd have to go on top of the bonnet :D

TaKeN, not sure where it's from originally. I bought it off a guy on Rovertech. All the pipework is off eBay though.

Anyway... it's in :D Started at 1:30pm yesterday afternoon, finished at about 9pm at night.

Only had my phone with me, so excuse the crappy pictures.

Started measuring up and cutting the pipes

All done

Bumper fit is crap I know. I just wanted to get it in and on. Will sort that out another day.

I also removed the S bend connecting the air filter to the turbo, and replaced it with a straight pipe.

Not really any power increase but it seems to pull a lot stronger through the gears. You can really feel the little T25 tail off at the top end now  :(

Running without a dump valve at the moment due to my dump valve T piece not turning up in time, but my god... the compressor stall sounds fantastic now. Soooooo chirpy  Those at the MM will have a nice treat in store when they hear it ;)

There is a little more lag but nothing OTT. Took me a while to get used to it at first but I didn't even notice it when driving to work today.

How did you mount the IC to the car?

Looks more like the lights dont fit rather than the bumper?

Kept the OEM fans then?

Oh and on the photo you sent me, buy a new front plate, will make it look 10x better!

:)

Drilled, taped and bolted to the crossmember :)

Used two brackets either side to give an even distribution of weight.

It's a bit of both really, bumper needs pulling up, lights need aligning properly. I'll sort it when I'm off next.

Nah, couldn't get the fans to fit :( I'm just about to order a slimline fan. Bit unsure about the PS cooler though... it gets right in the way and there's a bend in the pipe which is sitting against the IC. Need to cut the bend out and it'll be ok.

I've been meaning to sort the front plate for ages. Thanks for reminding me! Will have to nip down to the motorfactors one day this week and get one made up.

Biggles, no way the fog will fit in there. It fouls on the pipe. I don't use the foglights (they're not even wired in) so I might just seperate the glass from the back of the unit and mount that in.

That pipework looks good.

Here's a picture of the Intercooler that I have on my car (But this is not my actual car)
