Okay, been busy today... gave the ol' girl an oil change. Stuck some diesel oil in there to give it a good clean and will do another change in a few thousand miles.
See how quickly this stuff turns black though
Also rejigged the IC and pipework.
Instead of the left hand bend going around the bumper mount, it now matches the other side and goes in before it. Had to bend and deform the bumper mounts a bit, it's not pretty but it's solid and works well.
Can actually get my hand in to tighten the bolts now, and as you'd expect, I can fit the other fog light back in.
One of my mates polished the airbox and IC to TB pipe. Can't really tell in this picture, but it looks excellent in real life.
Also trimmed and re-mounted the bumper and headlights. I'm really pleased with the fit. Passenger side headlight is a bit wonky, but MILES better than it was before. Managed to fit the standard lower grille into place too. Should help protect the IC from damage and also helps to keep it subtle.
Because the bumper doesn't droop anymore, there's more of the IC in the bumper mouth and therefore, better cooling. I kid you not, but the pipe that goes into the IC is rather warm whereas the pipe that comes out is stone cold! Very very impressed.
I also noticed that I'd forgotten to tighten one of the jubilee clips on the IC... wondered what the high pitched whine was when booting it. All sorted now and whacked the boost up to 12psi (was at 10 before). Pulls really well now
Oh, ignore the cable ties in the picture... that's not a bodge, it's to stop the silicone expanding under pressure and blowing off the alloy pipework.
New numberplates are also on the way. I opted for some plain plates with a green border, Euro symbol on the left hand side and a very small Rover logo in the bottom right corner. Should look pretty smart
