Another reason for censors to get all steamed up

I have never heard of a single person who has stabbed or murdered anyone whilst they were playing a video game. I have heard of many people murdered whilst clubbing, or on their way home from a football match. Video games are a vital source of entertainment that keeps people busy and keeps them from performing socially harmful acts. Just as museums, galleries, skate parks and youth centres are all vital tools in giving people things to do, so that they do not fall in to the traps that lead to crime, so are computer games. In trying to deny people access to these computer games anti-computer-game lobbyists are beginning a process that will ultimately end up with resentful, restless and squandered citizens who turn to the few things these lobbyists haven’t taken away from them – drugs and criminality.

Iv heard of someone being assaulted whilst playing videogames.
Yes people have been murdered whilst clubbing, and yes on the way home from football games(on the way home from anywhere.. the childrens playground, school? does that mean they are to blame?)

Your arguements are sheer **** tbh, we agree your statistics are factual, the point is they mean **** all due to the fact we know the rest of the facts, I have listed truthful statistics of this case also, which along with yours are completely factually to this case.

It looks like theres a lot of people who disagree with you in this thread, probably due to the fact that you would have us believe that video games such as GTA stop people from going commiting murder, due to the fact that people who play the game who also kill do not do both at the same time.

I know of someone who was stabbed in the face with a scalpel on answering the door when playing video games. Mind you, that was because he'd 'grassed' the guy to the police for burgling his house, so I don't think that really counts.

I don't see how this is related to games other than they were waiting to purchase one. It's basic knowledge that video games affect people, but I highly doubt that it was motivated by anything other than mindless violence. As is most.

There was some bother in Redcar when I was there with lads all forming around the door of the store shouting abuse at the manager and people in the store (as well as me when I went to the cash point and then walked back into the store).

Daft really. Thankfully there's a lad in there who works the midnight shifts who's a nightclub doorman, so he swapped places with the manager on the door (dunno why he didn't start there) and he soon got the lads (group of 4 or 5) to clear off.

Dunno why people bother.

croydon isn't as bad as everyone makes out yes we get the occasional stabbing, shooting and gang war but no more than most built up areas with high council housing and immigrants,

I fail to see in any way how the artical blaims GTA?

Where did I say the article blames the game?, I don't, the censors/groups against games with violence will make their own link just because the game is mentioned I never said linked in any way. Don't twist peoples words to meet your own ends, that is what the censors/groups against games with violence do.

Theres been quite a few real studys showing that violent films/game releases lower violent crime rates too actually. And that porno's being released lower rape cases.. ofcourse theres two sides to the argument, but atleast theres some valid logic in it.

Then i'd hazard a guess and say that your not black.

I suppose you could say that they are indicating it is like a placebo effect, geive them a little of what they want albeit only in virtual form and they don't go out looking for it. I don't know how that would work or weather it would work but I see the logic even though I don't totaly aggree.

yeah look at japan, they have lots of violent porn and even vending machines for it (and some where there was an artical on how they had machines that you could buy worn girls panties from  )

Yet they supposedly have a very low rape rate.

Because people didn't get trampled and aggressive when Ikea had sales. No violent games there.

Well, I for one went and protested against Ikea's cheap sofas. I was disgusted at the low turnout for my picket line though. It's as though people have no perspective of the severity of these issues.

I think we are actually coming from the same angle.

No one has said videogames are to blaim, yet everyone is suddenly talking about it. Why are people jumping to such conclusions? Its almost as if people are complaining about something which hasn't happened.
