Got a little lucky and have been offered to have a go in an Audi R8.

My dads mate is getting one in a couple of weeks and has told me i can have a go in it. He's an owner of some car sales place and gets hold of very nice cars every now and then.

Now what im posting about is how should i drive it ? I have never driven anything with power before but i pick up things very quickly.

Anything i should and should not do ? (obviously dont crash is a great yet obvious start)

Drive it round to mine so I can have a go to :D :p .

Lucky man! I only get to admire the one at the Audi Rayleigh hehe.

never driven the r8 but driven audis with the same engine and you get away with murder, the v8 is so easy to drive you can be totally lazy with the gears

greatest sound ever :D

Make sure its not wet or else you will be in trouble :p

As said before, dont give it some beans when cornering but thats common sense.

Everything 'should' be fine...

don't look too carefully or you may notice it's ugly as hell, great car otherwise

Bah nonsense

Just don't plant the throttle after every gear change. I do this in my car as it's a small engine and I can get away with it. Wouldn't want to adapt the same sort of driving in something like the R8 but obviously I would adapt a driving style which suits the car.

Don't get too cocky with it but don't panic too much either. Just drive as you normally would and to start with only give it the wellie button on a straight.

They are very, very easy to drive. And easy to drive fast. Is it a manual or flappy paddle? If its manual then the 3rd to 2nd gear change is a bit fiddly due to the gate, but very satisfying when you get it right. Be aware of how wide the thing is. And have fun!

Wouldn't worry about it as you won't even warm it up on English roads. Last 8 i went in stuck to the road like crap to a horse hair blanket & had brakes that hurt you. You'd have to be an idiot to stack one.
I'd say just make sure your driving position is perfect before pulling off then warm the brakes up a bit & get a feel for it. Once you are comfortable get it out in the country where nobody is about & try to kill it.

I did a track day in 1 last weekend. (I'll put pictures up tomorrow)
They stick to the road like **** to a blanket, that quattro helps heaps:D
Right about the gear change, back down to 2nd can be a pain.
If you are taller than 6'4" then a comfortable driving position may be difficult to achieve (I'm that height but with the skid lid it made it awkward)
Awesome car though, didn't even hit 6th and I was doing well over 130mph, felt so planted through the corners as well.
It doesn't feel that you are going as quick as you are though, so be carefull.
(I have a vid as well, which I'll stick on Youtube and post the link up):p
