I managed to drop my K800i in a pint of milk yesterday... what a choob :(

Funnily enough, its still kinda working! Didnt seem too hot last night, the phone would not come on, autofocus red light was constantly on and a red LED flashed near the infared port... but a night on the radiator has saved some of it!

Screen is fine, still vibrates (finally), can make calls ok, Texting works... tho the keys are all a bit hard to hit :(

I think i might be able to fix the keys with a good clean :)

Sadly tho the ringer does not work and nor does the camera... its proper gone!

Anyone got any suggestions... or even know if the camera bit can be replaced?

Thanksss!

Craig! :D

Tried putting it somewhere nice and warm like on a radiator or the airing cupboard to dry it out?

That's gotta stink, warmed souring milk is not pleasant in the least.

You can get the phone repaired, somewhere like Carphone Warehouse will send it off to the Sony-Ericsson repair centre - last time I checked it was a flat fee of about £70 I think. However that is more than the phone is worth, you can probably pick up one new cheaper than that now.

Yeah - getting it repaired will probably cost more than the value of the phone new, especially as I seem to remember seeing it for as low as £70 (or even £60) plus £10 top-up. Might as well just buy it new and get a fresh 1-year warranty!

Yeah didnt think it was worth repairing as i mind a month or so it was £90, and obviously found less than that now :)

It was just to see if the camera was a cheapo fix or anything... as i did kinda like the phone :(

Dont really need a new one to be honest, can put up with this one till my upgrade in July.

I read in a newspaper yesterday that if you put your phone into a bowl of plain white rice (if it gets wet) and leave it for 24 hours then that should fix it.

I also heard this and can confirm that it does not work :(

I dropped my E51 in some stinky, horrid, septic water on Sunday - totally wrecked the phone and the rice didn't dry it out one bit! Yes I did have to retrieve my phone with my bare hand :(
